2026 NHL Stanley Cup Odds

The Edmonton Oilers are currently the favorites to win the 2026 Stanley Cup. At +790 average odds, they’re trying to finally break through after losing consecutive Finals to Florida. Connor McDavid’s two-year, $25 million extension shows he’s all-in on Edmonton.

Florida sits second at +810, but the back-to-back champs lost Aleksander Barkov (torn ACL/MCL) for the regular season. Carolina rounds out the top three at +820, while Vegas follows at +890 after their blockbuster acquisition of Mitch Marner from Toronto.

Stanley Cup Favorites for 2026

The current odds for the 2026 Stanley Cup show a tight race at the top. Edmonton leads while the injured Panthers and red-hot Hurricanes sit close behind. Here’s a closer look at each favorite:

Edmonton Oilers (+790)

The Oilers are on a revenge mission after losing consecutive Cup Finals to Florida. Connor McDavid’s team-friendly deal screams “win now.” But McDavid doesn’t have a single goal through seven games, and Edmonton sits at 2-3-1.

The pressure couldn’t be higher. This might be their last shot with McDavid and Draisaitl together. They’ve addressed their goaltending but need to find their scoring touch fast.

Florida Panthers (+810)

The back-to-back champs are reeling from injuries. Barkov’s torn ACL and MCL means no captain until the playoffs. Matthew Tkachuk won’t return until December. The Panthers have lost four straight, scoring just four goals during the skid.

Coach Paul Maurice’s assessment was blunt: “None of our injuries are coming back, so this is our team.” The three-peat dream faces its first real test.

Carolina Hurricanes (+820)

Carolina is the NHL’s last unbeaten team at 5-0. They lead the league in goals per game (4.60) while ranking fifth in goals allowed (2.20). Seth Jarvis has been superhuman with his historic game-winning streak.

The Canes added Nikolaj Ehlers and K’Andre Miller this offseason. They’re built for playoff hockey but haven’t reached a conference final since 2019. Frederik Andersen’s health remains the X-factor.

Vegas Golden Knights (+890)

Vegas made the summer’s biggest splash by landing Mitch Marner. The $12 million winger has eight points in six games, joining Jack Eichel (NHL-leading 14 points) to form hockey’s most dangerous duo.

The Golden Knights haven’t lost in regulation (4-0-2). This franchise knows how to win, capturing the Cup in 2023. With Marner locked up for eight years, their window is wide open.

Colorado Avalanche (+920)

The Avalanche sit at 5-0-1 without a regulation loss. Nathan MacKinnon matched his career best with 10 points in six games. They retooled after trading Mikko Rantanen but still have elite talent.

Colorado won it all in 2022. When MacKinnon and Cale Makar are on, the Avs can beat anyone. They’re a popular dark horse pick at +920 odds.

Five Past Stanley Cup Winners

Year Team
2025 Florida Panthers
2024 Florida Panthers
2023 Vegas Golden Knights
2022 Colorado Avalanche
2021 Tampa Bay Lightning

The Panthers completed their repeat in 2025, beating Edmonton in six games for the second straight year. Sam Reinhart’s four-goal Game 6 will go down as one of the great Finals performances. Sam Bennett took home the Conn Smythe Trophy.

It was the first Finals rematch since Detroit-Pittsburgh in 2008-09. The Oilers couldn’t solve Bobrovsky, who posted a .932 save percentage in the series. Edmonton has now lost back-to-back Finals, joining a short list of teams to suffer that fate.

Florida’s dynasty hopes are real. Only four teams have won three straight Cups in NHL history. The last? The New York Islanders from 1980-83. Before that, you have to go back to the Canadiens’ run from 1976-79.

The salary cap era makes three-peating nearly impossible. Tampa Bay came closest with back-to-back titles in 2020-21. The Panthers would cement themselves among hockey’s all-time great teams with another championship.

NHL Teams Searching for Their First Stanley Cup

Team Years in the NHL Cup Final Appearances Closest They’ve Come
Vancouver Canucks 56 3 Game 7 losses in 2011 and 1994. The riots after 2011 still haunt the city.
Buffalo Sabres 56 2 Brett Hull’s controversial “foot in the crease” goal ended their 1999 run.
San Jose Sharks 35 1 Lost to Pittsburgh in six games in 2016. The choker label persists.
Nashville Predators 28 1 Fell to Pittsburgh in six games in 2017.
Ottawa Senators 34 1 Lost to Anaheim in five games in 2007.
Winnipeg Jets 14 0 Lost to Vegas in Conference Final in 2018.
Minnesota Wild 26 0 Swept by Anaheim in 2003 Conference Final.
Columbus Blue Jackets 26 0 Won first playoff series in 2019, sweeping Tampa Bay.
Utah Mammoth 2 0 Exceeded expectations in Year 1 with 89 points. Building something special in Salt Lake City.
Seattle Kraken 4 0 Made second round in Year 2. Still finding their identity.

Vancouver and Buffalo share the longest Cup droughts at 56 years each. The Canucks came agonizingly close in 2011, losing Game 7 at home to Boston. Buffalo hasn’t made the playoffs in 14 years now.

Utah surprised everyone in their inaugural season. The ownership group has deep pockets and commitment. They’re building the right way with young stars like Clayton Keller and Dylan Guenther.

The expansion teams have shown it’s possible to win quickly. Vegas captured the Cup in Year 6. Seattle made noise in Year 2. Utah could follow that blueprint with their promising young core.

Canadian Stanley Cup Winners

Team Stanley Cups Finals Appearances Last Championship Last Finals Appearance
Montreal Canadiens 24 34 1993 2021
Toronto Maple Leafs 13 21 1967 1967
Edmonton Oilers 5 8 1990 2025
Calgary Flames 1 3 1989 2004
Vancouver Canucks 0 3 N/A 2011
Ottawa Senators 0 1 N/A 2007
Winnipeg Jets 0 0 N/A N/A

Canada’s Cup drought hit 32 years after Florida beat Edmonton again in 2025. The Oilers have now lost consecutive Finals, crushing the nation’s hopes twice.

Montreal’s 1993 championship feels like ancient history. Patrick Roy’s heroics delivered Canada’s last Cup. Since then, Canadian teams have reached the Finals eight times and lost them all.

The math is staggering. Seven Canadian teams make up 22% of the league but haven’t won in three decades. Edmonton remains the best hope with McDavid and Draisaitl, but the clock is ticking on that duo.

Toronto traded away Mitch Marner, breaking up their core. The Leafs haven’t won a playoff series since 2023. Their 58-year Cup drought is the longest active streak in the NHL.
