2026 Ballon d’Or Odds Movement Timeline
- August 6 – Kane has now moved into odds-on favorite territory, averaging -112 to pick up the Ballon d’Or.
- July 28 – We’re just over two weeks removed since Spain lifted the World Cup and unsurprisingly two Spaniards have climbed to the top of the Ballon d’Or odds table. Lamine Yamal (+225) and Rodri (+350) are just behind the favorite Kane, who’s now a very short +125.
- May 7 – Harry Kane has opened as the 2026 Ballon d’Or favorite in a big way. The Bayern Munich & England striker is currently getting +250 to win the best footballer award for the first time. He’s currently sitting ahead of three Champions League finalists: Declan Rice (+400), Ousmane Dembele (+400), and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (+700).
Recent Ballon d’Or Winners
From 2008 to 2017, the Ballon d’Or award was dominated by two names: Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. Messi continued to pick up wins in ’19, ’21, and ’23, but lately we’ve seen new names continue to appear on the final ballot. In fact, since 2022 there have been no repeat names among the first, second, and third-place finishers for the Ballon d’Or.
Most Ballon d’Or Awards
With Messi winning two of the past three Ballon d’Ors, he now has a two-win lead over Ronaldo at 7-5 when it comes to the most-ever Ballon d’Or wins.
