The best way of predicting the future is to look back at the past. Here are some interesting trends to consider before making a wager:
- Western Conference teams have won ten of the last 13 WNBA championships
- Only five Eastern Conference teams have won the WNBA Championship since 1997
- Only once has a team with a sub-500 record reached the WNBA Finals
Eastern Conference
The Sun have a loaded roster, with league MVP-favorite Jonquel Jones, young guard talent in Courtney Williams and Dijonai Carrington as well as the ever-reliable DeWanna Bonner. It would not be a surprise to see them raise the trophy at the end of the season
Western Conference
Out west, the wild card for the Phoenix Mercury will be the status of Brittney Griner. Currently detained in Russia, if her release is granted and she returns this season they will be absolutely loaded with fellow All-Star C Tina Charles now in the valley of the desert and the backcourt trio of Diana Taurasi, Skylar Diggins-Smith and Kia Nurse.
