LSU vs Clemson National Championship Game Player Props: Travis Etienne Set for Massive Night

The #1 LSU Tigers (14-0) are set to take on the #3 Clemson Tigers (14-0) at Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans for the National Championship.

Joe Burrow and the LSU Tigers are coming off a dominant 63-28 win over Oklahoma. Burrow finished with eight total touchdowns, seven through the air and one on the ground.

Clemson, meanwhile, squeaked by Ohio State 29-23. Trevor Lawrence finished with 259 passing yards, 107 rushing yards, and three total touchdowns.

In the Clemson vs LSU odds, there are a lot of interesting player props to look at it. That being said, I will be giving you my three best player props to take for the 2020 CFP Final.

Prop #1: Joe Burrow Passing Yardage

Everybody was in awe of Burrow’s 500 yards of total offense and eight touchdowns against Oklahoma. Burrow threw all seven of his passing touchdowns in the first half.

However, with almost two weeks for this Clemson defense to prepare, it will be difficult for the Heisman Trophy winner to put on the same performance.

Clemson’s defense is substantially better than Oklahoma’s. The Tigers have allowed just 138.5 passing yards per game this season, which is best in the country. Against Ohio State, they allowed OSU quarterback Justin Fields to throw for 320 yards, but also recorded two interceptions.

Against top 40 defenses, Burrow has thrown for 341.6 yards per game this season vs Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, and Texas A&M. The only game Burrow went over 372 passing yards was against Alabama back in early November.

Although it’s tough to bet against Burrow in LSU’s backyard, the only way Clemson can stay in this game is if they limit the passing attack. My best bet for the quarterbacks is going to be Burrow throwing for less than 372 yards, however, I am taking a look at one Trevor Lawrence prop as well.

The odds for Lawrence to throw an interception at -125, which I think is very possible to happen against this LSU defense in a big game.

Prop #2: Travis Etienne All-Purpose Yards

Travis Etienne has continued to improve over his three seasons at Clemson. The 5’10”, 210 pound running back had 1,932 all-purpose yards this season, along with 22 touchdowns. Etienne had two huge receiving touchdowns against Ohio State to help the Tigers climb back from a 16-point deficit.

Etienne finished with 134 total yards and three scores against Ohio State. However, 98 of his yards were on passes, giving him just 36 yards on the ground. This was Etienne’s lowest rushing total all year.

A lot of the burden will be on Lawrence in this game, but having Etienne as a safety blanket for check downs will be key for his success. Etienne can turn any play into a big one, and we have seen him do it on multiple screen passes in the past.

Etienne has gone over 139 total purpose yards in six games this season. To keep the ball out of Burrow’s hands Dabo Swinney will be handing the ball off to Etienne early and often, so you better believe he will have more than just 36 rushing yards in this game.

Best Bet: Travis Etienne – Over 139.5 Total Rushing and Receiving Yards (-145)

Prop #3: Thaddeus Moss To Score Touchdown

All the attention in this game will be on Joe Burrow and his elite receivers in Ja’Marr Chase and Justin Jefferson. Both of these receivers have combined for 36 touchdowns and just under 3,000 receiving yards. Clemson’s secondary should be all over them, opening up the field for Thaddeus Moss, the playmaking tight end.

Moss caught 42 passes for 534 yards and two touchdowns this season. The son of Hall of Fame wide receiver, Randy Moss, he had his best games against top teams this year. The junior tight end had seven catches for 45 yards against Auburn and six catches for 46 yards against Alabama, including this catch:

He also scored on a breakaway touchdown catch and run in the Peach Bowl.

At 6’3″ and 249 pounds, Moss is a great target for Burrow in the red zone and could end up being a big difference-maker in this game if Chase and Jefferson are locked down by Clemson’s defense.
