NBA All-Star Game MVP Odds: Lakers Duo of Anthony Davis & LeBron James Both Favorites; Giannis Antetokounmpo +500

- Fellow team captain Giannis Antetokounmpo follows closely behind at +500
- Sportsbooks are offering props on player points, threes and assists in Sunday night’s game
It’s NBA All-Star weekend, which means a few days off for the majority of NBA players. The biggest stars of all are heading to Chicago, though, as they prepare for the midseason showcase.
It’s Team LeBron against Team Giannis on Sunday night, and the two regular season MVP frontrunners are near the top of the All-Star Game MVP betting as well.
James’ Lakers teammate Anthony Davis is the favorite, however.

Stars Out in Chi-Town
The open-court nature of the All-Star Game, and the lack of any recognizable defense, gives freedom for players to express themselves. Those earning their All-Star spot on the back of hustle and defense are going to be extras in a performance of flashy passes, mesmerizing handles and show-stopping dunks. Unsurprisingly, Domantas Sabonis and Rudy Gobert are massive outsiders.
James Harden, who drained four threes last year, is priced at +600, which is on the short side. The Houston Rockets guard has scored 24 points across the last two All-Star Games.
Two first-time All-Stars, who happened to be traded for one another on draft night in 2018, might provide the best value for MVP.
Trae Young is a 21 year old averaging 29.7 PPG and 9.1 APG.

Luka Doncic and Trae Young, with odds of +900 and +1000, respectively, have earned starting berths in their second seasons in the league. They are going to be desperate to make their mark, while some of their teammates may be less interested. We can expect three-point shots aplenty from both of them – they rank fifth and sixth in the NBA in three-point attempts per game.
Young and Doncic rank second and third in assists per game, too. Likely to get plenty of minutes on Sunday, and with the adrenaline pumping in their first-ever All-Star games, big performances are likely from the two second-year stars.
Doncic is on Team LeBron, the stronger of the two rosters, which could prove to give him an advantage. If you fancy Team Giannis to pull the upset, Young looks a great bet at +1000, though.
James and Davis have shown great on-court chemistry, and deserve their status as favorites. Both have won All-Star Game MVP previously too, James winning it for a third time in 2018 and Davis winning in 2017. Young and Doncic are the two value picks in the MVP market, however.
2020 NBA All-Star Game Props
Prop | Over Odds | Under Odds |
---|---|---|
Most three-point shots made by any player | Over 6.5 (-120) | Under 6.5 (-120) |
Most assists recorded by any player | Over 10.5 (-120) | Under 10.5 (-120) |
Most points scored by any player | Over 31.5 (-120) | Under 31.5 (-120) |
Five players made exactly six threes in the 2019 All-Star Game. Of those five, Khris Middleton is the only player who will take the court this year. That might make it seem like an obvious pick to go for the ‘under’, but there’s still plenty of three-point talent on the court.
Middleton, Harden, Doncic and Young will all be unafraid to take on shots from range, despite the latter trio all shooting below 37% from deep this season. Brandon Ingram, Kemba Walker and Jayson Tatum are all shooting superbly from beyond the arc.

It’s easy to focus on who isn’t there when we look at the three-point market. There’s still a lot of shooters out there, and we can expect plenty of attempts from way downtown from Harden, Doncic and Young.
Russell Westbrook, back in 2017, is the last player to hit seven threes in an All-Star Game. Harden and Paul George hit seven and nine respectively in 2016. Harden and Kyle Korver got seven apiece in 2015.
Hitting the ‘over’ doesn’t require a record-breaking effort. There’s enough three-point threat on the rosters to bank on one player getting hot and hitting seven or more threes.
Pick: Over 6.5 threes by any player (-120)
