  • After a brief hiatus, the LCS is back with games moving towards online play
  • Entering Week 8, Cloud9 leads the pack with a 13-1 record
  • Members of Cloud9 have won three of the previous seven player of the week awards

The LCS is back after taking a short break with all of their games moving towards online play. Cloud9 has been the dominant force in the LCS so far as they’ve only dropped a single game to TSM. Entering Week 8, members of Cloud9 are among the favorites to win the Week 8 Player of the Week award.

C9’s Aggressive Jungler

In week 8, Cloud9’s schedule is relatively easy. They’re going up against the  7-7 100 Thieves, and the 3-11 CLG. Cloud9 has been far and away the most dominant team in the LCS so far and a large part of that is thanks to their jungler Blaber. Blaber’s been a member of C9 for a while now but this season he took over full-time for Svenskeren. Fans weren’t sure how the young, aggressive jungler would perform and early on he’s been stellar.

The rest of C9 has been just as good, as Blaber, Zven and Nisqy have all won Player of the Week awards this split. Against 100 Thieves and CLG, I believe Blaber will get things going early and carry those early leads to another 2-0 week. Nisqy doesn’t have great value here so go for Blaber, or even Zven instead.

TSM Longshots

In Week 7, TSM pulled off a massive upset win over Cloud9 that proved their ability to be one of the top teams in North America. It hasn’t been a perfect split by any means, but it finally looks like TSM has found their footing. Sitting at 8-6, in Week 8 TSM has a couple of winnable match-ups against the Golden Guardians and Immortals.

Bjergsen won the Player of the Week award for Week 7, and all of a sudden he’s the favorite to win it again. If TSM continues to play hot, then it might be worthwhile to look at some of their other members. Brokenblade has the most kills of any top laner in the LCS and he is very involved in TSM’s map play. He often gets lost playing next to Bjergsen but Brokenblade has the ability to pop-off any game, and his flashy ways could net a PotW award.

Kobbe for some shocking reason is sitting at +3300. TSM’s AD Carry isn’t the most aggressive player in lane, but when games run late, there are few players who are more reliable. If TSM struggles to find quick wins, then Kobbe could become the star of the show in some late-game team fights. +3300 is insane value for a player of his caliber, in his position.

CLG’s Savior

After CLG struggled mightily out of the gate, Pobelter swooped into his former team and has slowly helped them right the ship. They’re not winning every single game, but they’ve started to add numbers to the win column.

Will CLG go 2-0 this week? Probably not… However, Pobelter did just help CLG upset TSM two weeks ago, and a win over the overly confident C9 isn’t out of the question. If CLG, does pull off that upset, you better believe that Pobelter would be in line for Player of the Week.

Pick: Kobbe (+3300)

Team to Win Player of the Week

Team Odds
Cloud9 +200
TSM +325
Flyquest +400
Evil Geniuses +425
100 Thieves +500
Immortals +550
Team Liquid +600
Golden Guardians +900
Dignitas +1100
CLG +1600

Don’t Stray from the Top Two

Although the value from Team Liquid is quite good at +600, they continue to be inconsistent and difficult to predict. The value of C9 and TSM is rather low, but entering Week 8 TSM’s schedule appears too easy to pass them up here. Pair up TSM with one of their less likely members such as Kobbe for Week 8.

Picks: TSM (+325)
