This weekend, Real Madrid face another tough La Liga test as they march their way to another La Liga title in the 34th round of matches. As Barcelona continue to drop points, Real Madrid just cannot stop winning. The Galacticos have been undefeated since the Spanish restart, but will be challenged by a tough Athletic Bilbao team that has won three out of their last six matches.
While Real Madrid’s offense has been scintillating under Zinedine Zidane, they will be tested more than ever Sunday night. Athletic Bilbao has only conceded 28 goals during the entire campaign. The only two squads to better that mark? Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid, with 21 and 25 goals allowed, respectively.

Can Bilbao’s Defense Hold Strong?
In their last six matches, Athletic Bilbao have held their opponents to five goals, an average of 0.83 per game. To better that statistic, three of those teams faced were in the top 10, including: Atletico Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia. Historically, Gaizka Garitano’s side has held Real Madrid to a fair scoreline. Since 2018, they have managed a draw against Zidane’s side three times, allowing more than one goal only once.

Much of this credit can be given to central defenders Yeray Alvarez and Inigo Martinez. Despite their talent, they will be put to a major test against Real Madrid. The team captained by Sergio Ramos has been equally impressive on the defensive side of the ball, while also pouring in the goals.

Karim Benzema Will Look to Shine Again
One player who has stood out for Real Madrid has been Frenchman Karim Benzema. Ronaldo’s former strike partner has provided 24 goals this season, and has scored some wonder strikes as of late. His volley against Valencia will be a goal the Ultras Sur will remember for quite some time.

Benzema will be the player Madrid looks toward on Sunday, but they also have several different attacking options. Vinicius Jr. and Eden Hazard will also be players to watch this weekend as they look for a consistent run of form. While Real Madrid are the heavy favorites, going against the third best defense in the Spanish league could make for a challenging scoreline.
Best Bet
Finally, the best bet for this match is to go with the under at 2.5 goals with odds of -118. These odds are not the best on the table, but they are the safest and surest to happen. The spread for this match is even risky given Real Madrid’s defense as of late. A 2-0 win from Zidane’s team is totally possible. With history favoring this pick, betting on a draw is not a bad backup option. Nevertheless, the under is the most logical choice for this fixture. Madrid’s goal scoring has churned down slightly, only scoring one goal in each of their last two games. It is hard to see Athletico Bilbao just lying down here, which is why this match will be low scoring and down to the wire.
The pick: Under 2.5 goals (-118)
