Inter Milan will require a win to keep alive their slim title hopes when they visit Hellas Verona in Italy’s Serie A on Thursday.
After their surprise 2-1 defeat at home by Bologna last Sunday, Antonio Conte’s Inter team began the week in third place and need three points to remain in touch with leaders Juventus and second-placed Lazio.
However, an unexpected glimmer of hope arrived for Conte when Juventus were beaten 4-2 by AC Milan on Tuesday while Lazio succumbed 2-1 against Lecce.
It left Inter 11 points behind Juventus and four behind Lazio with a game in hand on both rival sides.

Inter are favorites for an away win at -128 which looks the best value here. Verona are rated at +320. The draw is +270.
Verona was in the eighth spot at the beginning of the week but have won just once in four games as they seek to maintain their hopes of qualifying for the Europa League with eight rounds of matches remaining on their schedule.
Inter will keep fighting until the title is mathematically beyond them. But, realistically, they will require a mammoth effort and some good fortune from now on to have any chance of catching Juventus.
Early Lead Thrown Away
They surprisingly threw away a 22nd-minute lead given to them by Romelu Lukaku against Bologna at Stadio San Siro last weekend – with the visitors scoring twice in the last 16 minutes.
The misery was compounded by the fact that Inter’s Argentine striker Lauturo Martinez missed a penalty. And that Bologna had been reduced to 10 men after Roberto Soriano was sent off in the 57th minute.

It was Inter’s first defeat in five games since the re-start and came on the back of a thumping 6-0 win against struggling Brescia.
With three wins, a draw and a defeat, they have earned nine points since the resumption of play.
Verona are battling with AC Milan and Roma to claim an automatic Europa League place.
Inter had slipped in the title race before the suspension of play when they suffered successive defeats against Juventus and Lazio immediately before the shut-down.

Ahead of Wednesday’s games, AC Milan with 49 points and Roma with 48 points occupied the fifth and sixth Europa League qualifying places although Verona with their tally of 42 points had not given up hope.
In the seventh position after Tuesday’s matches, Napoli already have their Europa League berth secured after winning the Coppa Italia last month. Milan were fifth and Roma sixth.

Late Goals Trouble Verona
In a sign of frail mentality, seven of the last 10 goals conceded by Verona have come in the second half. Painfully, three of those have come in the 90th minute of added-on time.
