The options abound for the Disney star turned budding prizefighter throughout multiple combat sports.

Joe Fournier tops the list as he already has a presence under the Triller umbrella, he won in the opening main card bout on the Paul vs Askren card, and he did specifically call for Jake Paul next.

I think his experience level makes him a bit of a tall ask for Paul at this point, so I feel this option won’t be explored, at least at this juncture.

Jake Paul Boxing Options

Tommy Fury would fit the bill for a “real boxer” that many are calling for as Paul has yet to fight someone with even a single boxing bout to their credit.

Both have a level of pop culture pull, with Fury being known for his time on Love Island, and the two seem to have a level of bad blood. Several ingredients are at play here for a Fury vs Paul contest.

Conor McGregor should be ruled out as he has a big trilogy fight coming up with Dustin Poirier and also has boxing aspirations oriented to fighting guys like Manny Pacquiao.

I could only see Conor McGregor fighting Paul years down the line if the Irishman has a major career downturn and takes several losses that damage his image.

Jake Paul vs MMA?

I feel like with Tyron Woodley, they’re still possibly looking at him as Oscar De La Hoya’s return opponent for July. He may fight Paul down the line, but I can’t see it being the next option.

Dillon Danis seems like a good option, but there are some variables that make me wonder.

It seems like Bellator MMA, the promotion Danis is contractually aligned with right now, wants to create some form of co-promotion between brands or even a multi-fight deal that includes a Paul vs Danis MMA bout under their banner.

I think Paul’s handlers are playing things very safe with him and won’t want to put him in a situation like that with Danis. They want him to stay in a purely boxing framework against mismatched opposition and milk this for as long as they can.

Part of me worries that Paul’s team will look towards a guy like BJ Penn.

Another instance of carefully plucking a retired MMA fighter out of that relaxation period and strapping a pair of big gloves on them for a cheap payday and a hollowed-out, maladjusted sense of what has been accomplished.

I’m ultimately going to go with Tom Fury as he checks off so many boxes for a Paul prizefight.

Pick: Tom Fury (+200)
