The second major of the 2021 Dota 2 Pro Circuit is the WePlay AniMajor, and it all gets started with the Wild Card round on June 2nd. After that, the group stage will run from June 4th to June 7th, with the playoffs taking place from June 9th to June 13th.
As with any Dota 2 major, the event comes with high stakes as the prize pool is made up of $500,000 USD and 2,700 pro circuit points.
PSG.LGD are the favorites to win the event at +375, but there are a bunch of teams in the running to win the WePlay AniMajor.

European Contenders
Going back to the last major at the end of March, the European teams had some high hopes. Team Secret were favored to win the ONE Esports Dota 2 Major, and now going into the WePlay AniMajor, Team Secret are only +800 to win. As for the other European teams, both Alliance and Team Nigma were eliminated prior to the playoff bracket of the ONE Esports Major.

Now entering another major, we’re wondering how Europe will perform against international competition once again. Although Team Secret has the highest odds to win amongst European teams, it’s Alliance that I look at as Europe’s best bet. At the qualifying event for the major, it was Alliance that finished in first with a 6-1 record. Their only loss was a 2-1 defeat to Brame, but they beat the other top EU teams on their way to qualifying directly to the Major Playoffs.

Alliance drastically underperformed at the previous major, and now they’ll have a chance for international redemption. If you want to put a bet down on a European team, rather than Team Secret, take a shot on Alliance who also has better value.
Previous Major Winners
Internationally, there’s not much to go on besides the results from the previous major. Based on that and the current odds to win the WePlay AniMajor, China is currently the region to look out for. Invictus Gaming won the ONE Esports Major and PSG.LGD also had a top four finish.
PSG.LGD are the favorites to win this event at +375, but in the qualifier for the WePlay AniMajor, PSG.LGD wasn’t the team to finish first. Team Aster finished first in the round robin and earned a spot straight to the playoffs. PSG.LGD finished right behind them with a 5-2 record.

The team that might not be getting enough attention, especially from the oddsmakers, is Vici Gaming. They’re listed at +2600 to win despite beating PSG.LGD 2-0 in the qualifier. The fear with Vici Gaming is that they’re forced to start in the Wild Card round, where the field is fairly strong.
They’re grouped in with teams like Team Secret, Team Nigma, and Invictus Gaming. That opens the door for some incredible value on Vici Gaming if they can make the long run through the Wild Card round and into the final. Realistically, Team Aster is the team I look at from China as the best bet. Despite finishing first in their qualifier, Team Aster has lower odds of winning the major than PSG.LGD.
WePlay AniMajor Best Bet
Two other teams that have to be mentioned are Evil Geniuses and Virtus Pro. Evil Geniuses put together a remarkable run at the ONE Esports Major where they beat Invictus Gaming and PSG.LGD, eventually finishing in second place. Virtus Pro dominated the round robin in Eastern Europe by going 7-0 and only dropped two games.

Both of these teams are in the running, but I’d put my money on Team Aster. As previously stated, Team Aster qualified directly to the playoff bracket and still has better value than their regional counterpart, PSG.LGD. A team from China won the previous major, and if the same holds true at the WePlay AniMajor, I’d bet on Team Aster.
Pick: Team Aster (+550)
