Fresh off a 5-1 win over the Montreal Canadiens, the Tampa Bay Lightning are established as -215 home favorites to win Game 2 of the Stanley Cup final over the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday, June 28th at Amalie Arena.

Montreal hasn’t lost back-to-back games in the playoffs since dropping Games 2, 3 and 4 of the opening round to the Toronto Maple Leafs. Can the upstart Canadiens stage another comeback? Do the Lightning finally have too much for the Habs to handle?

Beyond the outcome of the game, there are plenty of Stanley Cup final player props to choose from as the two teams take the ice for Game 2. Tampa Bay’s big guns were firing on all cylinders during the series opener. Playoff scoring leader Nikita Kucherov scored twice and added an assist. Brayden Point, the playoff goal-scoring leader, didn’t dent any twine but did dish out three helpers.

For Montreal, the lone goal came off the stick of defenseman Ben Chiarot, the first goal of his NHL playoff career in his 52nd game. It was also just the third goal all postseason by a member of Montreal’s blueline corps.

Odds as of June 29.

Brayden On Point

Point set a Lightning franchise record by collecting his trio of assists in Game 1. That’s the most ever by a Tampa Bay player in a Stanley Cup Final game.

Point’s forte, though, is lighting the lamp. For just the second time in these playoffs, he’s gone consecutive games without a goal.

It’s also the first time during the postseason that Point has failed to score in consecutive home playoff games. However, through three playoff rounds, he’s only scored in one Game 2 among those three series.

Regardless, Point is due to score. Take Point to put the puck in the net.

Pick: Brayden Point over 0.5 goals (+164)

Hedman That Puck

Lightning defenseman Victor Hedman was the 2020 Conn Smythe Trophy winner. During the opening round of the playoffs against Florida, Hedman set a club record with seven powerplay assists. He’s just the eighth player in Stanley Cup history to post that many assists with the man advantage during a single playoff round.

Hedman leads all defensemen with 11 powerplay assists during the playoffs. He’s tied for second in the NHL in postseason powerplay scoring with 1-11-12 totals.  He’s also second overall in the playoffs in powerplay assists.

Tampa Bay’s powerplay is clicking at 37.5% in the playoffs. At home, the Lightning strike even more efficiently with the man advantage at a 44.4% success rate.

The Lightning were 1-for-3 on the powerplay in their Game 1 victory.

Pick: Victor Hedman over 0.5 powerplay points (+182)
