  • The Kansas City Chiefs are 10-point home favorites over the Las Vegas Raiders in their NFL game on Sunday, December 12
  • Sunday Betting Record: 0-0 ML; 4-9 ATS; 0-1 O/U; -4.52 units
  • The Raiders are 1-7 straight in their last eight games at KC, but 1-0 there since moving to Las Vegas

There’s never any need to hype a game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Las Vegas Raiders. This is like Darth Vader against the force. Everyone picks sides. The only difference being in this case, there’s a significant pro-Darth constituency.

Oddsmakers, though, aren’t among that group. They are establishing the Chiefs as healthy 10-point home favorites in this game. The Raiders are a solid 3-1 against the spread as an away underdog this season.

Raiders vs Chiefs Odds

Team Moneyline Spread Total
Las Vegas Raiders +360 +10 (-114) O 47.5 (-112)
Kansas City Chiefs -460 -10 (-106) U 47.5 (-108)

Odds as of December 11th at FanDuel.

Kickoff Sunday at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium is set for 1pm ET. The weather forecast is calling for clear skies, 16 mph wind and a temperature of 53 degrees. CBS is carrying the broadcast.

Raiders vs Chiefs Line Movement

The total on this game opened at 51.5 points. Had that line held, it would’ve been marking the 10th time in 13 games that the total on a Chiefs game was 50 or more points. However, the public hit the under hard – 66% of handle and 57% of bets – driving the total down to 47.5. No doubt this action was spurred on by the fact that the under is 11-2 in KC’s last 13 games.

The spread fluctuated during the week, dipping as low as KC -8.5 at one juncture. While handle on the spread in NFL betting trends is split 50-50, there’s 57 of bets backing the Raiders.

Moneyline wagering is weighted heavily toward KC. There’s 78% of handle and 86% of public bets on the Chiefs.

Order Returns To AFC West

Remember this season when everyone was worried about the Chiefs and excited by the Raiders? Seven games into the season, the Raiders were atop the division at 5-2. Kansas City was scuffling at 3-4.

Well, KC has now won five in a row and covered in three straight. The latter streak began with a 41-14 rout of the Raiders at Las Vegas.  KC QB Patrick Mahomes passed for five TDs and 406 yards in that game.

The Raiders are losers of four of their last five games.

Raiders vs Chiefs Injury Report

Thin in receiving talent, the Raiders were hopeful of tight end Darren Waller (knee/back) returning to action. But he’s listed as out for the second straight game. Middle linebacker Denzel Perryman (ankle) is doubtful. Las Vegas is ailing at the position. Both Nick Kwiatkowski and Nicholas Morrow are on IR. Running back Kenyan Drake broke his ankle last week and is out for the season.

For a Week 14 game, the Chiefs will be taking the field relatively injury-free. Right tackle Lucas Niang (ribs) and left cornerback Rashad Fenton (knee) are both listed as questionable. However, the Chiefs believe that both players will be good to go.

Raiders vs Chiefs Betting Trends

Raiders QB Derek Carr was limited to 249 yards through the air the last time he was facing the Chiefs. That’s problematic, because Las Vegas is 29th in the NFL in rushing. On average the Raiders gain 88 yards per game on the ground. KC is 20th in the NFL at stopping the run, allowing 115.2 yards per game.

Kansas City’s offense is #1 in the NFL in third-down conversions (50.69%). The Raiders are 30th in the league in this category (33.81%).

Defense has been the story of late for KC. The Chiefs have held four straight opponents under 15 points. The biggest number they’ve allowed over that span was the 14 scored by the Raiders.

KC vs Las Vegas Prediction

The Chiefs and status as a double-digit favorite haven’t gone well together of late. KC was a 10.5-point choice over the New York Giants earlier this season. The Chiefs won but didn’t cover in a 20-17 victory.

Last season, the Raiders were 10.5-point underdogs when they visited KC. Not only did Las Vegas cover, the Raiders were 40-32 outright winners.

Kansas City is 2-5 ATS the last seven times the team took the field laying 10 or more points. The Chiefs are 3-10 ATS in their past 13 home games.

Pick: Las Vegas Raiders +10 (-114)
