It is Barcelona vs Sevilla on Sunday, April 3 at 3:00 pm ET at the Camp Nou on Matchday 30 of La Liga.
With nine rounds of fixtures to go, both teams still have a mathematical chance of winning the La Liga title, but with Real Madrid holding a nine-point advantage over second-placed Sevilla and a 12-point lead over Barca, it is Los Blancos’ title to lose. The battle is still on though for the remaining three Champions League places.
We preview Barcelona vs Sevilla and offer below the best picks for this massive La Liga clash.

Barca on the Rise
It has been a traumatic season for Barca, with a run of poor results at the start of the season concluding with the sacking of coach Ronald Koeman. He was replaced by club legend Xavi who, after a slow start, has now started to turn things around. It feels like the Barcelona juggernaut is finally on the move again.

The Catalans come into this match off the back of a scintillating 4-0 win in the second El Clasico of the season in their last game before the international break. Despite facing the champions-elect in their own backyard, Barca produced their best performance of the campaign to record an outstanding win; goals coming from former Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (2), Ronald Araujo and Ferran Torres.
Still Real Madrid’s Title to Lose
Barcelona, in third place in La Liga, has a game in hand on Sunday’s visitors who are currently in second but only three points ahead. Barca’s superior goal difference means that a win would take them into second place. They also have a game in hand on the league leaders although even if they win that game the gap will still be nine points, hence it being Real’s title to lose.

So, while Xavi’s arrival in the technical area has come too late for them to reclaim the La Liga title, it has massively changed the mindset and expectation around the Camp Nou. It feels like Barca is back.

Three Wins on the Spin for Sevilla
While Sevilla is currently one place and three points ahead of Barca in the table, they come into this without the momentum of the Catalans. Last weekend, they drew 0-0 at home against Real Sociedad in a game that was underwhelming for both teams, Sociedad registering just two shots on target compared to Sevilla’s zero. It was their third draw on the spin.

Sevilla’s early-season promise has not completely evaporated – Julen Lopetegui’s men have still only lost twice in the league this season – but a failure to turn draws into wins has, it appears, cost them the chance of winning the La Liga title for only the second time in their history.
Too Many Draws for Lopetegui’s Men
While Real Madrid has, in fact, lost one game more than the Sevillistas Rojiblancos, it has been Los Blancos’ ability to win tight games that have seen open up that nine-point gap at the top. While Sevilla has won 15 and drawn 12, Carlo Ancelotti’s champions-in-waiting have won 20 and drawn six.

So, while the title now looks to be a long shot for Lopetegui’s squad, they will want to finish the season strongly and ensure they claim a Champions League place without too many dramas.
Barcelona vs Sevilla Picks
When these two met in Sevilla in December it was a 1-1 draw and this will again be close – certainly closer than the odds suggest. Sevilla, despite their dip in form, still lose very rarely, and Barca will have to work hard for the win.
But, the 4-0 win in the Bernabeu will have boosted Barca’s confidence massively and I expect them to squeeze home here, possibly by the odd goal.
