Brewers Betting Outlook
Woodruff will make his first start of the season after a shaky spring training performance. He was rocked for 15 runs (14 earned) and 16 hits in 11.2 innings in the Cactus League with 12 strikeouts and four walks.
That came after Woodruff was selected to the last two All-Star Games.

In 13 career games (11 starts) against the Cubs, Woodruff is 2-1 with a 2.73 ERA. He is 1-1 with a 1.98 ERA in seven games (five starts) at Wrigley Field.
Few Cubs hitters have a good history against Woodruff. Happ is 3 for 21 (.143) with a home run but seven strikeouts while Jason Heyward is 3 for 20 (.150).
Andrew McCutchen, Willy Adames and Rowdy Tellez each had two hits Thursday for the Brewers and Lorenzo Cain drove in two runs.
Cubs Betting Preview
Happ’s two-run double in the seventh inning Thursday snapped a 3-3 tie and proved to be the game-winning hit.
Nico Hoerner hit the first home run of the major league season. Japanese outfielder Seiya Suzuki reached base three times and scored in his MLB debut.

Steele struggled with his control this spring as he issued seven walks in 6.2 innings. However, he also allowed just two runs and three hits while striking out five.
In his rookie year in 2021, Steele was 0-1 against the Brewers with a 3.97 ERA in four games (two starts). He struggled at home, though, going 2-3 with a 6.07 ERA in 10 games (five starts).
Steele has had his way with Brewers leadoff man Kolten Wong, holding him hitless in six at-bats.

Brewers vs Cubs Prediction
Thursday’s result was the reversal from last season when the Brewers won 15 of 19 games against the Cubs. Urias led Milwaukee by hitting .356 (21 for 59) with seven doubles, five home runs, 23 RBIs and 10 walks.
Woodruff had a difficult exhibition season but one of the more meaningless things in sports is spring training stats. He always pitches well in Wrigley Field and that will continue
The Pick: Brewers ML (-165)
