The Buffalo Bills opened their season in impressive fashion Thursday night with a 31-10 rout of the Los Angeles Rams on the road. The oddsmakers took notice.
The Bills were the favorites in the Super Bowl odds going into the game. Obviously, they remain the choice to win it all following the decisive opening night win, and their odds improved from +600 to +550.
Already the favorite, Bills quarterback Josh Allen also saw his NFL MVP odds improve following a fine performance. Meanwhile, the odds for the Rams and quarterback Matthew Stafford suffered because of their three-touchdown loss.

Bills Win in a Blowout
Allen led the way for the Bills as he passed for 297 yards and accounted for four touchdowns. That helped his NFL MVP odds improve from +700 to +550.
Allen was an efficient 26-of-31 passing while throwing for three touchdowns. He had scoring passes of 26 yards to Gabe Davis, 7 yards to Isaiah McKenzie and 53 yards to Stefon Diggs.
No stopping @JoshAllenQB.

The deep ball to Diggs was the backbreaker as it put the Bills ahead 31-10 with 9:25 remaining.
On the ground, Allen hurt the Rams by rushing for a game-high 56 yards on 10 carries. He also had a 4-yard TD.
All was not smooth for the Bills. They had four turnovers, including two interceptions by Allen. However, all those miscues didn’t really hurt.
The Bills were an impressive 9 for 10 on third-down conversions while totaling 413 yards. Diggs was their top receiver with eight catches for 122 yards.

Led by linebacker Von Miller, the Bills put heat on Stafford throughout. After helping the Rams win the Super Bowl, Miller had two of Buffalo’s seven sacks in his debut with his new team.
Rams Humbled in Opener
Stafford had a rough night in his first start as a defending Super Bowl champion as he was intercepted three times. He completed 29 of 41 attempts for 240 yards and one touchdown.
Stafford entered the game with MVP odds of +1600 and they rose to +3000 after the loss. You can preview the latest MVP odds at BSSB, and get some added bang for your buck by using an exclusive Barstool Sportsbook promo code.

The Rams’ Super Bowl odds also took a hit, dropping from +750 to +1400. Los Angeles was the third choice coming into the game behind the Bills and Tampa Bay Buccaneers but are now fifth on the board.
Not surprisingly, Stafford’s touchdown pass went to Cooper Kupp, a play that covered 4 yards in the second quarter. It wound up being the Rams’ only TD as they were outscored 21-0 in the second half after playing the Bills to a 10-10 halftime tie.
After winning the receiving triple crown last season on his way to capturing NFL MVP honors last season, Kupp put up good numbers in Week 1. He had 13 receptions on 15 targets for 128 yards and one touchdown.
First touchdown of the season? Gotta be @CooperKupp!

However, no other Ram had more than 39 yards receiving.
The Rams’ defense struggled as Allen gashed them both in the air and on the ground. Perhaps the most eye-opening stat of the night was star defensive tackle Aaron Donald recording just two tackles.
Rams Provide Value in Super Bowl Odds
The Bills showed why they are the Super Bowl favorites and Allen showed why he tops the MVP odds.
Yet while the Rams turned in a clunker, they are still well-equipped to make a run at being the first team to win back-to-back Super Bowls since the New England Patriots in 2004. The Rams are now a value play at +1400 and Stafford is also worth at least a small wager at +3000.
