Michigan (13-10, 7-5 Big Ten) is a 10-point home favorite over Nebraska in a Big Ten game at 6:30 pm ET Wednesday on the Big Ten Network. The Wolverines have won two in a row and three of five and are a game out of second place in the league.

Nebraska (11-13, 4-9 Big Ten) broke a four-game losing streak with a 72-63 home victory over Penn State the last time out Sunday. The Cornhuskers are 2-6 SU and ATS since beating bottom-feeder Minnesota on Jan. 7.

Michigan is a 10-point home favorite against Nebraska in a series that the Wolverines have dominated since the Cornhuskers joined the Big Ten in 2011-12. Michigan is 15-1 SU and 11-5 ATS in the season series and has never been an underdog in the series. The Wolverines are 7-0 SU and 4-3 ATS in the series at Crisler Center.

The Wolverines are 11-11-1 ATS this season, 6-5-1 at home. Nebraska is 8-16 ATS, 1-9 on the road. Michigan is 13-10 against the “over” this season and Nebraska is 6-17-1.

Michigan in the Race

Michigan has won two games in a row for the first time since the first week of January and suddenly finds itself in a six-way tie for third place in the scrambled league standings. The prize? The top four teams in the league receive double-byes in the Big Ten tournament. Another victory against bottom-feeder Nebraska with give the Wolverines a little more room to breathe in a stretch run that includes two games against Indiana and four of the final seven on the road.

The shot wasn't very consistent against OSU but the stuff Jett Howard does with his off-ball movement is so advanced for a freshman. A creative NBA OFF is going to have so much fun with him.

Junior 6’10” center Hunter Dickinson (18.1 points, 8.4 rebounds) and 6’8″ freshman wing Jett Howard (14.6 points, 59 threes) are the go-to guys in coach Juwan Howard’s offense, with 6’4″ sophomore guard Kobe Bufkin (12.2 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.2 assists) provides support. Howard. Juwan’s son, is projected as a first round pick and potential low lottery pick in the 2023 NBA draft if he declares. Bufkin has played well in the Wolverines’ last two. He had 15 points and a career-high 12 rebounds in his first career double-double in a 68-51 blowout of Northwestern last Thursday and had 13 points, eight rebounds and five assists in a 77-69 victory over on Ohio State on Sunday.

Michigan ranks in the middle of the Division I pack in shooting and rebonding but does not beat itself. The Wolverines average 9.6 turnovers per game, fifth in Division I, and have a 1.35:1 assist-to-turnover ratio. Five of its losses are by five points or fewer, and it played without Jett Howard in a 75-70 loss to Purdue on Jan. 26.

Nebraska Looks to Build on Win

Huskers 6’2″ junior shooting guard Keisei Tominaga had a career day when the Huskers broke a four-game losing streak to earn a season-split against Penn State on Sunday, scoring a career-high  30 points on 12 of 18 shooting. He also tied a career high with five three-pointers, several from NBA range, for th4e first time this season the third in his career. Tominaga has started five of the last six games, all four after starting guard Emmanuel Bandoumel (8.4 points, 4.8 rebounds) suffered a season-ending knee injury at Penn State on Jan. 21.

Senior 6’8″ forward Derrick Walker (13.2 points, 7.6 rebounds, 3.6 assists) and senior 6’7″ wing Sam Griesel (11.3, 5.5, 4.0) are the other double-digit scorers for a team that received more some unexpected contributions Sunday. The Cornhuskers shot 52.9 percent from field, held Penn State to 40.0 percent and committed a season-low seven turnovers. Freshman point guard 6’3″ Jamarques Lawrence, who has started the four games since Bandoumel went out, had 11 points, nine rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Nebraska vs Michigan Prediction

Michigan always wins this game, but that is not why were are here, is it? The Wolverines have followed their last three two-game winning streaks with two-game losing streaks, but it was losses to Virginia, North Carolina, Michigan State and Purdue that halted the winning runs. Nebraska is not the caliber of any of those. The Huskers are 1-6 SU and 0-7 ATS in their seven Big Ten road games, four as a double-digit underdog. Look for the Wolverines to continue that streak.
