Haynes King Passing Yards

Despite being 10-point underdogs, Georgia Tech quarterback Haynes King has a favorable matchup to eclipse 190.5 passing yards against Florida State. Last season, King threw for 2,842 yards and 27 touchdowns in his first year as the Yellow Jackets’ starter.

He topped 190 passing yards in 10 of 13 games, including a 313-yard performance against Louisville’s 24th-ranked defense. Expect the senior signal-caller to top 190 passing yards as the Yellow Jackets embrace an underdog mentality in the season opener.

While Florida State’s secondary is talented, the Seminoles must replace several key starters from last year’s unit that allowed 170.4 passing yards per game, second-best in the ACC. With Georgia Tech likely playing from behind, King should have ample opportunity to air it out.

The Yellow Jackets also return leading receiver Malik Rutherford and added transfers Chase Lane and Christian Leary to bolster the passing attack. King has expressed confidence in his receiving corps, saying, “I think we have a really good group of receivers that can win one-on-one matchups.”

Even if the Florida State pass rush forces King to scramble, his dual-threat ability allows him to extend plays and find open receivers downfield. At -118 odds, King’s passing yardage prop is a solid value given his track record and the game script of Georgia Tech playing catch-up as heavy underdogs.

  • Pick: Haynes King OVER 190.5 Passing Yards (-115)

Jake Bailey Receiving Yards

SMU wide receiver Jake Bailey should have a big game against Nevada’s suspect secondary. Last season, Bailey led the Mustangs with 42 receptions for 528 yards, averaging an impressive 12.6 yards per catch. With quarterback Preston Stone back under center, expect the duo to connect early and often.

Nevada allowed opposing quarterbacks to complete over 65% of their passes last season, setting the stage for Bailey to feast. The Wolf Pack surrendered 30 or more points eight times in 2023, so SMU’s high-powered offense should have plenty of opportunities to move the ball through the air.

Bailey’s ability to win contested catches and make plays after the catch will be crucial in moving the chains. Look for him to stretch the field vertically and create mismatches against Nevada’s overmatched defensive backs.

With his prior existing dynamic connection with Stone, Bailey should surpass 40.5 receiving yards at an attractive price of -118. The stud pass-catcher averaged 37.7 yards per game in 2023, and this will be one of his easiest matchups of the new season.

  • Pick: Jake Bailey OVER 40.5 Receiving Yards (-114)
