  • It’s back-to-work time for us in the MLB on Monday, May 5
  • We’ve got some weather issues that we need to navigate, but we can do that
  • See below for my +1800 home run parlay today (May 5th)

It’s Monday, which means we have a decent-sized slate to pick through for home runs. After banging out the smallest of small profits on Friday, I’m ready to say we’re ready. One thing of note for today is the weather. I used to not believe in weather. I was off and on when it came to that subject. But after seeing what we’ve seen so far this season, I think weather might actually be a thing. (Takes a big man to admit when he was wrong.)

So with that in mind, we’re going to have to choke up on the bat a little today and take a swing at a little two-leg dinger parlay. I know a two-legger doesn’t offer the same kind of power as a three-legger, but it is what it is. We’ll take the cash and move onto tomorrow like the champions we are. Feels like the move.

Please remember to play both legs straight for a 1/4 unit as well as a 1/2 unit two-leg parlay.

Monday HR Parlay Leg #1 – Shohei Ohtani to Hit a Home Run

We don’t need a big, long write-up on Shohei Ohtani. I think everyone with at least one eyeball and a borderline functioning brain knows this guy smashes. He’s been doing it for years now, and he’s still right in the middle of his prime. He’s incredible.

Even though we know he’s incredible, it’s still crazy to see his barrel rate against the pitch mix he’ll see tonight.

PitchOhtani Barrl Rate vs Pitch from RHP (2025)Alcantara ISO vs LHB (2025)
Sinker33%.571
Slider50%.500

It should be noted that he won’t exclusively be seeing sinkers and sliders tonight, but he will see them nonetheless. As for Sandy Alcantara’s other offerings, he smashes those as well. My guess as to why Ohtani is being priced near +300 is because of Alcantara, but that’s no worry to us. Alcantara is coming back from injury and just isn’t the same at the moment. He’s given up four home runs in just 26 innings of work so fart his season and after tonight, that number will likely hit five or more. This feels free.

Monday HR Parlay Leg #2 – Juan Soto to Hit a Home Run

We need a guy from the later games since we need to stretch our entertainment dollars. This way, we have action all night long. The last thing we want to do is blow our load with two guys from the early games. What would we even do once they both went yard? Go to bed at like 9 pm ET? No way.

Lucky for us, Juan Soto is playing late, and he’s hitting baseballs very hard.

PitchSoto Hard Hit Rate vs Pitch from RHP (2025)Nelson ISO vs RHB (2025)
Four-seam Fastball78%.214
Curveball75%.667

I’ll be the first to admit, I don’t like targeting Ryne Nelson. The guy doesn’t give up that many dingers. He just doesn’t. But this isn’t about what I like, this is about what Juan Soto likes. The guy has three career hits off of Nelson, and two of them went over the fence. Plus, once Nelson leaves, Soto could easily feast on a high-barrel rate bullpen like the Diamondbacks’. At the end of the day, this whole thing just works. We should be proud of this tow-legger. It’s glorious.
