The 49ers locked up Brock Purdy on Friday, making him one of the highest paid quarterbacks in the league. Purdy’s five-year, $265 million contact extension features $181 million guaranteed, and he’ll now make more per week ($2.9 million) than he did over the entire first three years of his career ($2.6 million).
San Francisco was already one of my favorite picks in a variety of different futures markets, and clearly online sportsbooks expected this deal to get done.
San Francisco 49ers 2025 NFL Futures
The news didn’t budge the 49ers 2025 Super Bowl odds. They remain at 20-1, which suggests oddsmakers didn’t foresee a Niners season without Purdy. That price makes them the seventh choice on the odds board, and San Fran won’t have to play any of the other top-nine contenders until the postseason.
The 49ers NFL Divisional odds also stood pat at +145. They’ve won the NFC West in two of the past three years, and look to be on track to do so again in 2025.

Best 49ers NFL Futures Bets
- 49ers to Win NFC West (+145)
- 49ers to Win NFC’s Number 1 Seed (+650)
I believe San Francisco is worth a sprinkle to win the Super Bowl, but the two bets I’m most interested in are the Niners to win the NFC West, and San Fran to earn the NFC’s number 1 seed. The ladder is my favorite at +650 odds, due to the cupcake schedule they’ll face.
The 49ers have the easiest NFL strength of schedule. They play just two teams outside of their division that had winning records in 2024 (Houston and Tampa Bay), while it’s not hard to pick holes in their divisional rivals. The Rams won the division last year despite a negative point differential. The Seahawks traded away their number one QB and receiver, while the Cardinals have gaping holes on defense.
2025 sets up as a bounce back season for San Fran, and Purdy as well. The 25-year-old played the bulk of last season without his number one receiver Brandon Aiyuk, his top running back Christian McCaffrey, and his starting left tackle Trent Williams. Despite missing three instrumental pieces of the offense, Purdy still ranked seventh in QBR, 10th in passing yards, and third in yards per attempt in only 15 starts.
Brock Purdy Stats Since 2022
Since taking over the starting role in 2022, Purdy leads the NFL in yards per attempt, while ranking fourth in QBR and passing yards, and seventh in touchdowns. Give him a healthy roster next season, against a schedule that has only four opponents with a winning record on it, and the sky’s the limit.
The 49ers skill position players should be healthy and ready to roll in Week 1. San Fran still needs to work out a new contract with Trent Williams, but hopefully, they can focus on that now that Purdy’s deal is done.
This type of contract comes with the expectation of winning a ring. Don’t forget, Purdy and the Niners took the Chiefs to overtime in Super Bowl 58 before falling just short.
Getting a fourth-place schedule will put them back in position to make another championship run. Purdy will thrive and the 49ers will compete with the NFC heavyweights for the number 1 seed.
