For the second straight year, the Edmonton Oilers and Dallas Stars will square off in the Western Conference Final. The Oilers ousted the Stars 4-2 last season in the NHL playoff bracket to advance to the Stanley Cup Final, and are small favorites to do so again in 2025.
These teams have been the two best offensive squads in the postseason so far, and I’m expecting box score fireworks in Game 1. That’s going to mean big nights for the game’s big guns in the Oilers vs Stars player props, so keep reading for a full breakdown of my favorite picks below.
Oilers vs Stars Player Props – Game 1
No player has shorter anytime goal odds than Edmonton’s Leon Draisaitl. The Oilers Connor McDavid carries a game-high shots over/under of 3.5, and is also the most likely player to record an assist.

My favorite player prop bet of Game 1 is over 0.5 points for Edmonton’s Zach Hyman at +102 odds. He’s been one of the team’s most productive players this postseason, and is due for some positive regression.
Oilers vs Stars Player Props Pick #1: Zach Hyman 1+ Points
- Zach Hyman 1+ Points (+102 at FanDuel)
Hyman enters play fourth in team scoring this postseason, but the advanced metrics suggest he’s been unlucky to produce only 8 points. The 32-year-old ranks second behind only McDavid in scoring chances created, and third on the team in shot attempts.
Zach Hyman 2025 Playoff Stats
Hyman has created by far the most high danger chances of any Edmonton player, and has been a consistent playoff performer ever since he joined the Oilers. He’s racked up 33 goals and 24 assists during Edmonton’s last four postseason runs. Hyman scored three times against Dallas during two March contests in the regular season, and also lit the lamp three times versus the Stars in last year’s Conference Finals.
Oilers vs Stars Same-Game Parlay
Moving over to the same-game parlay streets, where I’m going to combine my Hyman selection with two others for a +366 pay day. The first will be over 2.5 shots for playoff scoring leader Miko Rantanen, who leads the Stars in shot attempts (74) and scoring chances (47).
Rantanen was held off the scoresheet in the final two games against the Jets, but it wasn’t for a lack of trying. He fired seven shots on goal in Games 5 and 6, but failed to record a point for only the second and third time in his last 11 games.
We’ll round our Oilers vs Stars SGP with an alternate goal total of over 5.5 goals. Edmonton and Dallas rank first and second, respectively, in the playoffs in expected goals for, and high-danger scoring chances. They also boast top-five powerplay units, while the Stars have given up 375 shots on goal, 55 more than any other team.
Jake Oettinger has stood on his head thus far to keep the Stars alive in the Stanley Cup odds, but don’t be surprised if the Oilers big guns sneak a few pucks past him tonight. These two teams met three times in the regular season, combining for 21 total goals.
