Despite finishing in a tie for fourth behind Charles Schwab Challenge winner Ben Griffin, Scottie Scheffler is teeing it up at this weeks Memorial Tournament, a signature event. It’s one of the more revered tournaments on the calendar, with host Jack Nicklaus watching the worlds best compete at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio.

One golfer noticeably absent is 2025 Masters champion Rory McIlroy, who will miss his third signature event this year. The field is littered with superstars, with decorated major champions ready to pounce should defending champion Scheffler not capture his second straight Memorial Tournament.

Patrick Cantlay sports the fifth shortest odds to win the championship at +2000, and he’s competing at a venue that he’s had a ton of success on in his career. He’s a two-time champion of the Memorial, having won in 2019 and also in 2021. There’s been other times he’s had a chance at the trophy, with a T-3rd in 2022, a fourth in 2018, and a T-7 at this track for the 2020 Workday Charity Open.

Much like his fellow American Justin Thomas, he’s looking to break out of a winless funk that has seen him not reach the summit since 2022. JT was able to do just that at the RBC Heritage, and Cantlay is looking to follow in his footsteps. Cantlay was T-4th at the most recent signature event, the Truist, and T-13th at the aforementioned Heritage. He sports longer odds than the top-four golfers on the board, so there’s decent value at +2000 to win outright.

Memorial Tournament 2025 Picks & Value Bets

  1. Sepp Straka +4000: There are players who have shorter odds to win than Sepp Straka, yet they hardly, if ever, end up in the winners circle. It’s always a solid bet at this number for the big Austrian, considering he has four titles the last four years (two in 2025), including the last signature event, the Truist Championship three weeks ago. In 2024, Straka had an excellent Memorial Tournament, cashing in a tie for fifth.
  2. Denny McCarthy +4500: Still in search of his maiden victory on the main circuit, Muirfield Village has been a profitable course for Denny McCarthy. In 2022, he was T-5th here, then in 2023, came oh-so-close to winning, dropping a playoff to Viktor Hovland. The pure putter has seven top-20s on the year, with a tie for eighth in his most recent outing, the PGA Championship.
  3. Akshay Bhatia +7500: Akshay Bhatia found himself right in contention entering the final round of last weekend’s Charles Schwab Challenge before a tough final round. On the campaign, he has three top-10s, the most notable of which was a T-3rd at the Players Championship. The two-time winner is finding his footing as a phenom and could use a signature victory to really kick start his elite status.
  4. Taylor Pendrith +8000: Taylor Pendrith is coming in off his best career finish at a major championship, a tie for fifth at the PGA Championship. That was his fourth top-10 of 2025, which has been something of an inconsistent year. I don’t feel anyone past this 80-1 number has a realistic chance to win, so the big hitting Pendrith is the cut off for a longshot champion.
