The world’s best golfers head overseas for the Genesis Scottish Open, a tournament co-sanctioned by the PGA Tour and DP World Tour, and it features plenty of star power. It’s contested at the Renaissance Club in Scotland, and it’s the final tune-up before the last major of 2025 – the Open Championship.

Since this has been an official PGA Tour event, Xander Schauffele, Rory McIlroy and Robert MacIntyre have won in dramatic fashion with one-stroke victories. Dating back to when this was just a DP World Tour (formerly European Tour) event, eleven of the past 14 champions have won by a single shot or emerged with the title in a playoff.

It’s no surprise that Scottie Scheffler is the +340 favorite, as he has three trophies to his name in 2025 with nothing worse than T-8th in his last nine starts. Rory McIlroy, who won this championship in 2023, is the second choice at +650, followed by 2022 champ Xander Schauffele.

It may be low hanging fruit, but a perfect horse for this course is defending champion and local hero Robert MacIntyre, who won with a spectacular 72nd-hole birdie to wrestle the trophy away from Adam Scott in 2024. The year before that, he had one hand on the trophy, before McIlroy broke his heart with two closing birdies, leading to MacIntyre finishing in second place.

The last three years have been a PGA Tour/DP World Tour co-sanctioned event.

Not only has the Scot been excellent at this golf tournament, he very nearly won his first career major championship at the U.S. Open, where he also was second place. He followed that up with a top-20 at the Travelers Championship, his fourth such result in his last five starts. The last twelve rounds at the Renaissance Club, he’s tied first in total strokes gained and second in ball striking.

Six players have shorter odds to emerge with the trophy, making MacIntyre an intriguing bet at +3000 to win his third PGA Tour title.

Genesis Scottish Open 2025 Picks & Value Bets

  1. Matt Fitzpatrick +4500: After enduring a really tough stretch in his play, the 2022 U.S. Open champion has returned to form, posting a tie for eighth at both the PGA Championship and Rocket Classic among his last five times teeing it up. He knows a thing or two around this course also, finishing runner-up in 2021 and T-6th in 2022.
  2. Aaron Rai +6000: The man with two gloves has picked off a title at this venue, taking the 2020 iteration of this championship when it was solely a DP World Tour event. In 2024, he posted a great result here also, tying for fourth place. On the campaign, the Englishmen has eight top-25 results.
  3. Tom Kim +7500: I continue to bang the drum for Tom Kim, because he’s simply too good to pass up with long odds, despite his struggles this season. Despite some sketchy play, he absolutely loves the Renaissance Club, finishing third in 2022, T-6th in 2023 and T-15th last year. In those twelve rounds, he ranks first in total strokes gained at this track.
  4. Max Greyserman +8000: Max Greyserman came oh-so-close to winning his first PGA Tour title in his latest start, where he lost a five-hole playoff at the Rocket Classic to Aldrich Potgeiter. That was his fourth runner-up in the last two seasons, and he’s playing very well, with four top-25s in his last five tourneys, and had a top-25 at the Scottish Open last year. He’ll be someone worth wagering in the top 10/20 markets.
