The most expensive Summer League ticket in history has fans shelling out up to $3,000 for courtside seats. That’s what happens when the No. 1 overall pick Cooper Flagg faces off against Bronny James in Las Vegas.
The Lakers come in battle-tested after going 2-1 in the California Classic. Meanwhile, this marks Dallas’ Summer League debut, and all eyes will be on Flagg’s first taste of NBA action.
Let’s dive into the Lakers vs Mavs odds, and make our July 10 Summer League predictions.
Lakers vs Mavericks Odds
The Lakers opened as 3.5-point favorites at Caesars Sportsbook, with the total set at 177.5. Los Angeles sits at -170 on the moneyline, while Dallas comes back at +143.
The betting market clearly respects the Lakers’ experience edge after their California Classic warm-up.

Flagg vs Bronny: The Marquee Matchup
Cooper Flagg arrives in Vegas with massive expectations. The former Duke star averaged 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds and 4.2 assists last season while earning National Player of the Year honors.
Jason Kidd wants to push Flagg immediately. The Mavs coach plans to use him at point guard to get him comfortable running the offense. “I want to make him uncomfortable and see how he reacts,” Kidd said after the draft.
On the other side, Bronny James has been inconsistent through three California Classic games. He exploded for 10 points in 11 minutes against Miami but managed just two points against San Antonio on Tuesday.

Experience matters in Summer League, and the Lakers have it in spades. They’ve already knocked off the rust in California while building chemistry between key pieces.
Dalton Knecht has been the star of LA’s summer squad. He dropped 25 points on 9-of-18 shooting against the Spurs. Darius Bazley has also been dominant, posting 27 points and 13 rebounds in that same game while making a case for an NBA roster spot.
Lakers California Classic Scoring Leaders
The Mavericks counter with an inexperienced roster built around Flagg. Ryan Nembhard (younger brother of Pacers guard Andrew) provides the most intriguing pick-and-roll potential with the No. 1 pick. Maxwell Lewis offers the only real NBA experience with 21 games for Brooklyn last season.
History shows top picks often struggle in their debuts. Victor Wembanyama, Cade Cunningham and Karl-Anthony Towns all had rough first games. Flagg faces immediate pressure against a Lakers team loaded with NBA-caliber talent.
The Lakers’ depth should be the difference. Along with Knecht and Bazley, they feature Trey Jemison (G League experience), Cole Swider (sharp-shooting forward), and Christian Koloko (19 NBA starts with Toronto). That’s significantly more proven talent than Dallas can match.
Look for Bazley to test Flagg defensively. The former Thunder first-rounder has been a defensive menace in California and will likely draw the assignment on the top pick. His size, strength and speed present an immediate NBA-level challenge.
The total feels about right at 177.5. Summer League games can get sloppy, especially for teams playing their first game together. Dallas lacks guard depth and will lean heavily on Flagg to create offense.
Take the Lakers to cover. They’ve proven they can execute in this setting, while the Mavericks face chemistry questions and debut jitters. LA’s experience edge should shine through in what promises to be an electric atmosphere.
