Michigan vs Oklahoma Player Prop Bet #1: John Mateer Passing + Rushing Yards

There was little acclimation needed for John Mateer in Oklahoma’s new offense. After all, offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle brought his Washington State offense with him to Norman, leading Mateer to hit the ground running with 392 yards and three touchdowns in his first game as a Sooner. However, those numbers came against FCS Illinois State, and Michigan’s defense represents a far different challenge.

Mateer has crossed this line in seven of his last 10 games, averaging 335.5 passing and rushing yards in that span. However, that trend is misleading as the defenses Mateer faced in those contests include the likes of San Jose State, Hawaii, New Mexico, Wyoming and the aforementioned Illinois State.

Even in a down year in their first season under head coach Sherman Moore, the Wolverines finished 11th in pressure rate, and allowed the lowest air yards per completion in the nation. Despite a significant loss of personnel this summer, Michigan’s defensive unit is infinitely more talented than any Mateer has ever seen.

Additionally, Oklahoma offensive tackles Michael Fusasi and Derek Simmons will suit up, but both are dealing with injuries. Fasusi was held out of last week’s contest, and Simmons played just six snaps before leaving with a knee injury.

Plus, only two of Mateer’s 14 collegiate starts have come against Power Four opponents. In those two games, Mateer completed just 26-of-53 passes for 300 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. Fade Mateer against the Wolverines’ menacing defensive front.

  • Pick: John Mateer Under 276.5 Passing + Rushing Yards (-114)

Michigan vs Oklahoma Player Prop Bet #2: Bryce Underwood Passing Yards

On the other sideline, freshman quarterback Bryce Underwood faces his first true test in college football on Saturday night. Underwood impressed in his first career start last week against New Mexico, completing 21-of-31 passes for 251 yards. The No.1 ranked player of the 2025 college recruiting class aims to be the latest freshman quarterback to leave the Sooners searching for answers.

Don’t forget, Brent Venables has a losing record at Oklahoma against freshmen and redshirt freshmen quarterbacks, going 3-4 SU. In fact, Quinn Ewers destroyed Oklahoma as a freshman in 2022, passing for 289 yards and four touchdowns.

Back in 2023, Arizona freshman Noah Fifita found success with 354 passing yards and two touchdowns in a Wildcats win. While just last year, Nico Iamaleava threw for 194 yards in a Tennessee victory, and LaNorris Sellers put up 203 total yards and a touchdown in a South Carolina blowout.

Underwood finished with an 83.3% adjusted completion percentage last week. More importantly, he played in rhythm, with a 2.24-second average time to throw. After passing for 175 touchdowns and playing in huge contests through his high school career, Underwood won’t be afraid to stand in the pocket and let it rip against Oklahoma.

  • Pick: Bryce Underwood Over 189.5 Passing Yards (-114)
