A classic SEC battle takes place as the Alabama Crimson Tide head to Athens to face the Georgia Bulldogs. No.17 Alabama (2-1) and No.5 Georgia (3-0) are in the thick of the SEC title conversation and in need of an early statement win. Georgia plays host at 7:30 PM ET on Saturday, September 27th, on an ABC broadcast.
I’ve made my Alabama vs Georgia prediction for Saturday and laid out the betting odds with kickoff on the docket.
Alabama vs Georgia Betting Line
The oddsmakers have Georgia listed as home favorites with a total of 52.5. Over bettors can bet over 52.5 at FanDuel for -105 odds. Under bettors can bet under 52.5 at DraftKings for -110 odds.
Georgia bettors can get the Dawgs at -2.5 on the spread on FanDuel (-118 odds) or on the moneyline at -137, also on FanDuel. Alabama bettors can get the Tide at +3 on the spread at Caesars (-110 odds) or on the moneyline at +130, also at Caesars.
Alabama vs Georgia Prediction & Pick
- Georgia -2.5 (-118, FanDuel)

Alabama has stabilized after a disastrous Week 1 loss to Florida State. The Tide clobbered Louisiana-Monroe 73-0 before demolishing Wisconsin 38-14. Quarterback Ty Simpson has been dialed in, throwing for 862 yards and nine touchdowns through three weeks. He leads the SEC in passing efficiency, buoying a mediocre rushing attack.
The running back duo of Kevin Riley and Richard Young has had varying degrees of effectiveness. Riley was solid in his first two games, tallying 100 yards on 16 carries, but both backs struggled against Wisconsin. The receiver duo of Germie Bernard and Ryan Williams, on the other hand, is one of the best in the country. They have combined for 25 catches for 470 yards and five touchdowns through three games despite Williams missing Week 2.
Defensively, Alabama has had some issues – mostly against Florida State – but they have NFL talent in their ranks, per usual. LT Overton is a projected first-round pick, and the likes of Deontae Lawson and Domani Jackson are likely Day 2 picks.
Entering the season, Gunner Stockton was one of the most polarizing players in the country. The junior had just one start to his name – the CFP loss to Notre Dame – but he has answered every question so far in 2025. He has seven total touchdowns (leading Georgia in rushing touchdowns) and zero interceptions. Last week, his touchdown throw to London Humphreys saved the game.
Speaking of Humphreys, Georgia has a solid group of receivers. USC transfer Zachariah Branch leads the group with 181 yards and a pair of touchdowns, but Colbie Young is right behind him with 179 yards on a team-leading 13 catches. Georgia’s backfield is a three-headed monster with Nate Frazier, Dwight Phillips Jr., and Chauncey Bowers all over 120 rushing yards so far.
Georgia also has their share of future NFL players on defense. Christen Miller is a stout run defender on the interior and a potential top-50 pick. Linebacker CJ Allen leads the team with 10 solo tackles, and cornerback Daylen Everette has a 67.1 PFF coverage grade this season.
With this in mind, I am backing Georgia to pull out a close win, covering -2.5.
Alabama vs Georgia Last Five Matchups
Georgia and Alabama played in an instant classic game last season. Georgia battled back from a 28-0 deficit to take the lead in the fourth quarter only for Ryan Williams to catch a 75-yard touchdown on the next play. Both teams surpassed 500 yards of total offense in a top-five battle.
Georgia and Alabama have played each other in four SEC Championship Games and two National Championship Games since 2012; Alabama has won five of those six games, with the only loss coming in the 2022 National Championship Game. Alabama has won nine of the last 10 matchups. Alabama holds the lifetime matchup with a 44-26-4 record.
Despite playing seven times in the last nine seasons, this is the first Georgia home game in the series since 2015. Georgia last beat Alabama in Athens back in 2003.
