College GameDay’s rolling into Tuscaloosa for a must-watch SEC showdown this Saturday. The show sets up at Denny Chimes as the No. 10 Alabama Crimson Tide host No. 16 Vanderbilt in one of Week 6’s biggest matchups.

This is the 21st time GameDay has visited Tuscaloosa and the 61st time Alabama’s been featured on the show. Comedian and podcaster Theo Von returns as celebrity guest picker for his second GameDay appearance in the college football odds.

Von’s selection stirred controversy among Alabama fans. The comedian currently lives in Nashville, owns former Vanderbilt coach Derek Mason’s home, and regularly attends Commodores games. He’s developed a friendship with Vandy quarterback Diego Pavia, leading some Tide fans to question his allegiance.

Rece Davis defended the choice, saying “When you have someone who sort of transcends the game and kind of expands your reach, and he’s also awesome like Theo Von, I mean, Theo Von’s like an easy yes.” The Commodores enter 5-0 for just the second time in 80 years, while Alabama looks to avenge last year’s shocking 40-35 upset loss.

Week 5 was brutal for the GameDay crew. Desmond Howard struggled the most, going 2-8 with only correct picks on Ohio State and Indiana. Nick Saban led the group at 4-5, correctly calling Alabama’s upset over Georgia and Illinois shocking USC.

The entire crew whiffed on backing Penn State over Oregon, with the Ducks winning 30-24 in double overtime. Pat McAfee’s bold Washington pick backfired as Ohio State rolled 24-6. LaVar Arrington went 5-5 as guest picker, missing on his Penn State homer pick.

Alabama vs Vanderbilt Odds & Analysis

Kickoff: 3:30 PM ET on ABC at Bryant-Denny Stadium

Bet TypeAlabamaVanderbilt
Spread-10.5 (-108)+10.5 (-112)
Moneyline-426+330
TotalO 55.5 (-110)U 55.5 (-110)

This isn’t your typical Alabama tune-up game. Vanderbilt’s 5-0 start is just its second perfect record through five games in 80 years. The Commodores stunned the Tide 40-35 last season, their first win over Alabama since 1984.

The line dropped from Alabama -13.5 to -10.5, with sharp money backing Vanderbilt’s explosive offense. Diego Pavia’s dual-threat ability gives the Commodores a legitimate chance. He’s averaging 6.1 yards per carry and leading an offense that scores 49 points per game.

Alabama’s weakness? Their run defense ranks 89th nationally, allowing 160.5 yards per game. That’s exactly what Vanderbilt’s modern wishbone attack wants to exploit. Ty Simpson’s been pristine for the Tide with 11 TDs and zero picks, but he’ll need to be perfect against a Vandy defense forcing 1.8 turnovers per game.

  • Our Pick: Vanderbilt +10.5 (-112)

Miami at Florida State

Line: Miami -4.5 | Total: 53.5 | Kickoff: 7:30 PM ET on ABC

The rivalry returns to Tallahassee under the lights. Miami’s undefeated through four games but faces their first true road test at Doak Campbell Stadium.

The line’s moved from Miami -7.5 to -4.5, indicating sharp action on Florida State. The Seminoles average 336.3 rushing yards per game, second nationally. They’ll test a Miami defense allowing just 76.3 yards on the ground. Carson Beck’s been surgical for the Hurricanes, but FSU’s home field advantage could be the difference.

  • Pick: Florida State +4.5 (-108)

Texas at Florida

Line: Texas -6.5 | Total: 41.5 | Kickoff: 3:30 PM ET on ESPN

The Longhorns haven’t played in Gainesville since 1940. They bring the nation’s second-ranked defense, allowing just 7.75 points per game.

The total crashed from 53.5 to 41.5, the week’s biggest move. Florida’s offense has managed just 33 points in their last three losses. DJ Lagway threw for only 61 yards against Miami. Texas should grind this out with their rushing attack against Florida’s banged-up defensive front.

  • Pick: Texas -6.5 (-115)

Kentucky at Georgia

Line: Georgia -20.5 | Total: 48.5 | Kickoff: 12:00 PM ET on ABC

Georgia needs a bounce-back performance after last week’s crushing 24-21 home loss to Alabama. Kentucky provides the perfect get-right spot.

The Wildcats rank 125th in passing success and 131st in EPA/pass. Quarterback Cutter Boley looked lost against South Carolina. Georgia’s run defense ranks top-5 in explosive run rate against. They held Alabama to just 76 yards on 26 carries. The Bulldogs should dominate.

  • Pick: Georgia -10.5 first half (-110)

Iowa State at Cincinnati

Line: Cincinnati -1.5 | Total: 54.5 | Kickoff: 12:00 PM ET on ESPN2

The line flipped from Iowa State -3.5 to Cincinnati -1.5, a huge five-point swing. The Cyclones lost their top two cornerbacks for the season.

Cincinnati’s Brendan Sorsby should exploit that depleted secondary. He’s thrown 10 TDs against one pick while adding 227 yards and four scores on the ground. Iowa State’s defense has been elite, but injuries change everything.

  • Pick: Cincinnati -1.5 (-108)
