Buffalo wasn’t going home without a fight. The Sabres lit up Montreal for eight goals on Friday, chasing Dobes from the crease early and forcing Jacob Fowler into relief duty. On the other end, Lyon lasted just four shots before Ruff pulled him in favor of UPL, who settled in and backstopped the blowout.
FanDuel had the Sabres vs Canadiens odds posted during the third period with the outcome already decided.
Game 7 is Monday at 7:30 PM ET at KeyBank Center. The building will be rocking for Buffalo’s first Game 7 in a generation.
Game 7 Sabres vs Canadiens Odds
The Game 7 Sabres vs Canadiens odds have Buffalo as a slight -115 home favorite, with Montreal right behind at -104. This is essentially a pick ’em, and given how the series has gone, that feels right.
The total is set at 6.5 with the under juiced to -140. The puck line has Buffalo -1.5 at +198 for bettors who think the Sabres can win by multiple goals at home.

Sabres vs Canadiens Game 7 Preview
This series has been chaos. The favorites are 2-4 through six games, the home team is also 2-4, and neither side has been able to string together consecutive wins. Buffalo was down 3-2 and facing elimination in Montreal before blowing the doors off with an 8-3 road win.
Sabres vs Canadiens Series Results
Rasmus Dahlin has been the best player in the series with 8 points (2 goals, 6 assists), and his power play quarterbacking was the difference in Game 6. Buffalo went 3-for-5 on the man advantage after going 0-for-2 in Game 5. That PP surge is the biggest momentum shift heading into Monday.
Lane Hutson (7 assists) has been Montreal’s engine, and Alex Newhook (5 goals) has been their most reliable finisher. The Habs are also 5-0 after a loss in these playoffs, including their Game 7 win in Tampa after dropping Game 6. That bounce-back ability is legit and it’s the main reason I’m not laying big on Buffalo here.
That said, Demidov went quiet in Game 6 after a strong stretch, and Montreal’s depth will need to show up again if the Habs are going to extend their season on the road. If Montreal’s top-end talent stays cold, the bounce-back trend only goes so far.
Buffalo’s goaltending situation is the X-factor. Lyon (.847 SV%) has struggled all series and lasted just four shots in Game 6 before getting pulled. UPL (.900 SV%) came in relief and looked sharp, which could force Ruff’s hand for Game 7. Montreal’s crease is murkier now too after Dobes got chased for the first time this postseason.
Game 7 Sabres vs Canadiens Prediction
- Sabres ML & Under 6.5 Goals (parlay at FanDuel)
The under and puck line parlay cashed in Montreal’s Game 7 win over Tampa, so I’m going back to the same formula. This time, I’m taking the home favorite instead of the underdog, pairing Sabres ML with the under 6.5 to get a better return.
I know what you’re thinking: the under in a series averaging 7.5 goals per game? Game 7s are different. The pressure tightens everything up and both teams know a single mistake can end their season. Dahlin and Hutson will be logging massive minutes, and whichever goalie Ruff commits to will be locked in with the crowd behind him.
Buffalo has the momentum after the 8-3 road blowout, the PP is clicking, and Dahlin is playing the best hockey of his career. Montreal has already won twice at KeyBank Center in this series, but Game 7 at home with a franchise’s first deep playoff run on the line is a different kind of energy. Give me the Sabres and the under.
