After a brutal start to the 2025 season, the Tennessee Titans fired head coach Brian Callahan. Callahan coached 23 games with the Titans, leading them to a 4-19 record. Last season, the Titans received the No.1 pick in the draft, and they are currently slotted in at No.6 for next year’s draft after a 1-5 start this season.
The Titans have named Mike McCoy as their interim head coach. McCoy was a senior offensive assistant before being elevated to head coach. He has previously been the head coach for the San Diego Chargers from 2013 to 2016. He posted a 27-37 record, leading the Chargers to the playoffs in 2013, where they won a playoff game before losing to the Broncos.
McCoy is listed as the seventh-favorite to become the next permanent head coach of the Titans on DraftKings.

Matt Nagy, the current Kansas City OC, is listed as the modest +400 favorite, slightly ahead of Pittsburgh OC Arthur Smith (+500) and Washington OC Kliff Kingsbury (+600).

Titans Next Head Coach Best Bet
- Josh Grizzard (+3000, DraftKings)
Josh Grizzard is hoping to be the third consecutive Buccaneers offensive coordinator to ascend to being an NFL head coach in the next season. Last season, Dave Canales became the head man in Carolina. This season, Liam Coen ascended to the head coach role in Jacksonville.
Grizzard has continued to keep the Bucs rolling even as they have dealt with debilitating injuries. Stars such as Bucky Irving, Chris Godwin, Mike Evans, and Tristan Wirfs have missed time, but the Bucs have continued to fire on all cylinders. Despite having the No.24 scoring defense, the Bucs are 5-1 on the backs of a top-flight offense. They rank sixth in scoring, seventh in yards per pass, first in giveaways, and they have scored at least 20 points in all six games.
Given the 30-to-1 odds and the pipeline Bucs offensive coordinators have had in recent seasons, Grizzard is a great bet to be the next head coach for the Titans.
Titans Next Head Coach Candidates to Fade
Brian Flores (+800)
It is unclear whether Brian Flores’ lawsuit against the NFL will hinder his chances of becoming a serious head coach candidate, but it is worth considering when making a bet of this nature.
While the Titans swung and missed with hiring an offensive mind in Callahan, they would likely opt for another offensive-minded coach to cultivate an obviously talented Cam Ward. Flores is the cream of the crop as a defensive mind, but the Titans could be scared off by his debacle in Miami in terms of developing Tua Tagovailoa.
At 8-to-1 odds and with the cloud of his lawsuit, it is not worth taking Flores to be the Titans’ next head coach.
Todd Monken (+1200)
Todd Monken was a hot name in last offseason’s coaching carousel, but he ultimately stayed put in Baltimore as its offensive coordinator. This season has not gone to plan as Monken’s offense has sputtered, particularly without Lamar Jackson in at quarterback.
Had Monken devised an effective gameplan without Jackson (or if Jackson had not missed time and exposed some flaws within the Ravens’ offense), Monken would be a viable candidate. However, Baltimore’s offensive woes without Jackson – scoring 13 points in two home games – will be cause for concern.
The Titans would likely lean toward a young, hotshot offensive coordinator instead of the more veteran Monken. The 12-to-1 odds are worth a fade.
Eddie George (+1400)
While Eddie George is a franchise icon, it is far too early for him to be a viable NFL head coach. He has only five years of Division I coaching under his belt with just one season at an FBS program. He had a 24-22 record in four years at Tennessee State, leading them to one playoff appearance.
This season, George has led Bowling Green to a 3-3 record. Perhaps if the Falcons were performing better, George would have a better chance of leaping the NFL, but it seems highly unlikely that George could go from a mediocre Group of Six team to being an NFL head coach. His next step would either be a major college program or being an NFL position coach or coordinator.
Despite his legendary status in Nashville, George is too early on his path to be the Titans head coach. The 14-to-1 odds are not worth taking.
