The Dallas Cowboys (3-3-1) and Denver Broncos (5-2) square off after Week 7 wins over NFC East foes. Empower Field at Mile High in Denver plays host to a 4:25 pm ET kickoff on a CBS broadcast.

I’ve made my Cowboys vs Broncos pick below. Keep reading for three key players to watch as well as the updated betting odds.

DAL Cowboys vs DEN Broncos Pick

As underdogs, the Cowboys have been terrific, going 3-0 against the spread. On the flip side, the Broncos have covered just once as favorites, going 1-4. I am backing this trend to continue with the Cowboys keeping it close, if not winning outright.

Dallas is a team of extremes. They have a top-flight passing attack, rushing attack, and kicker. On the flip side, they have a broken-down offensive line and one of the worst defenses in the NFL. For this matchup in particular, I love the Dallas offense no matter the game script; they have the ability to move the ball through the air and on the ground. Brandon Aubrey is the ultimate equalizer, and he could take aim from comical distances while at altitude.

As far as I am concerned, the Cowboys and Broncos are similar-quality teams, so I will back the Cowboys +3.5 even if they can’t pull off the victory.

Cowboys vs Broncos Predictions

Loudness of the Lamb(s)

In the three games that CeeDee Lamb has played more than a handful of snaps, he has recorded 110 yards. The Cowboys have the NFL’s No.2 passing offense in terms of volume, No.2 scoring offense, and No.1 total offense. Despite a 3-3-1 record, Dak Prescott has played at an MVP level.

Lamb will likely see reigning Defensive Player of the Year Pat Surtain for a portion of the game when he is parked outside. However, when Lamb is in the slot, Surtain is not a lock to follow Lamb. In these matchups, Lamb will feast. His receiving prop is listed at over 74.5 yards on FanDuel which is likely worth taking.

The Broncos do have the No.1 passing defense by net yards per pass, but this number is partially an artifact of the Broncos facing debutant Cam Ward, Jake Browning, and Justin Fields. In those three games combined, the Broncos allowed 158 net passing yards. They have allowed at least 250 yards in the other four games, quarterbacked by Daniel Jones, Justin Herbert, Jalen Hurts, and Jaxson Dart. Prescott is arguably the best quarterback the Broncos have played this season.

Bo Nix: Early & Often

Nix has been dialed in late in games in recent weeks, but he needs a strong first half to keep up with an explosive Dallas offense. Luckily for Nix, the Cowboys have a bottom-three defense scoring-wise, yardage-wise, and against the pass. This would be a great week for Nix to be locked in from the opening kickoff.

One connection I am monitoring in Nix’s with receiver Troy Franklin. Franklin is second on the Broncos in targets and catches, but the pair of former Oregon Ducks were just out of sync last week, connecting on just three of 10 targets. I anticipate a game more like Week 2 when Franklin had eight catches for 89 yards and a touchdown.

Denver’s Front Decides the Game

This can go one of two ways. Denver is averaging just shy of five sacks per game with Nik Bonitto and Jonathon Cooper having Pro Bowl-level campaigns. If this destructive force shows up against a banged up Dallas offensive line, the Broncos could jump out to an early lead and dominate from there.

However, Dallas offers one of the best rushing attacks in the NFL from a schematic perspective. The Cowboys are third in yards per rush, even better than their yards per pass mark. Javonte Williams is having an excellent season, averaging 5.3 yards per carry, leading the NFL in first-down runs. The Broncos must shut down the Dallas rushing offense and then tee off on Prescott.

The Broncos have won the last seven matchups against the Cowboys, boasting a perfect home record dating back to 1992. Lifetime, the Broncos hold a 9-5 advantage in the series, but the Cowboys beat the Broncos in Super Bowl XII, so Dallas still holds that trump card.

In their previous meeting, the Broncos got out to a 30-0 lead with two touchdowns from Teddy Bridgewater and a trio of Brandon McManus field goal. The Cowboys, who were 10-point favorites at home, finally scored two touchdowns in the last five minutes, two of Malik Turner’s four career touchdowns.

Of note, Javonte Williams was on the Broncos in the 2021 matchup, running for 111 yards, including a long of 30. Watch for him to have a revenge game against his former team.
