The UFC is heading back to Madison Square Gardens for UFC 322 on Saturday night. The card is headlined by the Jack Della Maddalena vs Islam Makhachev fight, with the ladder jumping up in class to challenge for the Welterweight title.
The prelims are set to get underway at 8 pm ET on ESPN+, with the Main Card fights starting at 10 pm ET on ESPN PPV.
Here are my UFC 322 predictions and odds for my favorite fights on the card.
Maddalena vs Makhachev Prediction
Saturday will mark Maddalena’s first title defense, and the markets don’t expect his reign to last long. The Aussie is a +245 underdog in this fight, despite never tasting defeat in the UFC. In fact, Maddalena hasn’t lost a bout since 2016, and enters on an 18-fight winning streak.
Maddalena has a significant size advantage over his opponent, and is a superior striker. Nevertheless, bettors are flocking to wager on Makhachev bumping his price from -285 to -305 since opening UFC 322 odds were released.
Tale of the Tape
Makhachev backers are betting on his wrestling pedigree, and are obviously not concerned with the size disadvantage. Maddalena has significantly improved his takedown defense, even hiring the man who coached the only fighter to beat Makhachev during his UFC tenure.
But that’s not all Maddalena has to worry about. Even though he’s known for his wrestling, Makhachev is a very powerful striker as well. The Russian is also a southpaw who has a wide arsenal of kicks and counters, which is not something Della Maddalena is used to dealing with.
Then there’s Makhachev’s finishing prowess. He’s ended eight of his last nine fights inside the distance, submitting six different opponents during that stretch.
Maddalena’s size and knockout power make him a live dog in this fight, but Makhachev’s IQ and superior talent will lead him to victory. I’m not willing to lay his moneyline price, but I will take him to win by submission at +175 odds.
- Maddalena vs Makhachev Picks: Makhachev by submission (+175)

Edwards vs Prades Prediction
I’m going to skip the co-Main Event fight between Valentina Shevchenko and Zhang Weili, as I don’t see value on either side. I am interested in one of the other Main Card bouts featuring Leon Edwards and Carlos Prates, as I have the ladder priced as a much shorter favorite.
Edwards hasn’t won a fight in two years and looked loss in his previous two defeats. He’s also known for taking his time and starting slow, and that’s a recipe for disaster in a three round fight.
Prates meanwhile, isn’t messing around. He’s going to attack with ruthless pace, and his length and range is going to be too much for Edwards to overcome. The Brazilian has extreme power in both hands, as well as in his elbows and knees, and is capable of finishing this fight on his feet or the mat.
- Edwards vs Prades Pick: Prades Moneyline (-162)
Camilo vs Borschev Prediction
My final best bet shows up in the prelims, and probably carries the least amount of anticipation of any of Saturday’s fights. But we’re here to win money, not be entertained, and Matheus Camilo is going to pad our banrkoll.
The UFC prospect doesn’t have a sparkling resume, but he’s an excellent grappler and wrestling is Viacheslav Borschev’s Kryptonite. Salva Claus, as he likes to be be called, has one win in his last four fights, and that was against a fighter who’s been cut from the promotion.
Broschev is as one-dimensional as they come, preferring to brawl from his feet at all costs. The moment he’s taken down usually spells the end, as he’s 1-5 in fights where his opponent scores at least one takedown.
- Camilo vs Borschev Pick: Camilo Moneyline (-175)
