Wednesday night MACtion features a battle between the Miami RedHawks and the Buffalo Bulls. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 PM ET at UB Stadium in Buffalo, NY, and the game’s coverage will be carried on ESPN2.
I have finalized my Miami (Ohio) vs Buffalo prediction and provided my prop picks for Wednesday college football. Additionally, I have the best line for this MAC battle.
Miami (Ohio) vs Buffalo Prediction
My prediction for Miami (Ohio) vs Buffalo is a low-scoring, ugly affair with potential value on Buffalo as a home underdog. Both the RedHawks and Bulls are coming off losses last week and now sit at 5-5 overall and 4-2 in conference play.
Miami opened the season with three straight losses, responded with five straight wins, and has now dropped two in a row. Buffalo’s path has been much more volatile, never winning or losing more than two straight at any point.
The RedHawks have covered their spread in six out of 10 games this year, while the Bulls post an ATS record of 3-6-1.

Line Movement and Quarterback Situations
The betting market has been interesting to follow. Oddsmakers opened Buffalo as a 2-point favorite, but the line has since flipped, with Miami now laying 1.5. The total opened at 40.5 and has nudged down to 40 at most shops. So what caused the line to cross through zero?
Miami’s seventh-year quarterback, Dequan Finn, left the team early to prepare for the NFL. Senior Henry Hesson started last week against Toledo and posted some rough numbers: 11 of 38 (29%) for 147 yards, no touchdowns, and three interceptions. Miami lost 24-3.
Buffalo’s quarterback situation isn’t much more stable. Starter Ta’Quan Roberson exited last week with a lower-leg injury late in the third quarter. Gunnar Gray stepped in and went 6 of 9 for 54 yards with a touchdown and an interception.
There hasn’t been an official update on Roberson, but he was seen riding the stationary bike during the fourth quarter. There appears to be a solid chance that he suits up on Wednesday.
Matchup Analysis
Roberson has completed just 59% of his passes this season with a 13-9 TD-INT ratio. He’s had a couple of strong outings—403 yards versus UMass and 318 at Kent State—but hasn’t cleared 272 yards in any other game. It’s reasonable that bettors are reacting to the possibility he won’t go, but it’s still a bit odd considering Miami’s quarterback situation isn’t exactly encouraging.
These teams match up evenly across the board. Buffalo averages 24.2 points per game, Miami averages 23.3, and both defenses allow fewer than 22 points per game and fewer than 330 yards. Nothing stands out on either offense, which explains the low total and the early support on the under.
This has all the makings of an ugly, slow-paced matchup. With both quarterbacks in flux, we could see a heavy dose of the run game. I’d lean under, and I think there’s a little value on Buffalo now that they’ve flipped to a short home dog. No official play on the side or total for me, but I do have interest in the prop market.
Miami (OH) vs Buffalo Prop Picks
- Bet: Jordan Brunson Over 59.5 Rushing Yards (-114)
I’m targeting Miami’s starting running back, Jordan Brunson, to get 60 or more rushing yards on Wednesday night. In seven games of full action, he’s averaging 15.6 carries for 69 rushing yards per game at 4.4 yards per attempt. With the instability surrounding new starting quarterback Henry Hesson, we should see a heavy dose of Brunson in this matchup.
Buffalo is allowing 136.5 rushing yards per game, though they’ve kept opponents to just 3.4 yards per attempt. Even so, Brunson should be able to rip off a couple of chunk gains and, more importantly, should get enough volume to push him past this prop number.
