After starting the season with back-to-back one-score losses to ranked opponents, #9 Notre Dame (9-2) has absolutely steamrolled the competition. Online sportsbooks expect another lopsided Irish win tonight in Stanford (4-7), with the college football odds showing them favored by 32.5 points.

Kickoff is set for 7:30 pm PT, 10:30 pm ET from Stanford Stadium in Stanford, CA, with ESPN providing the broadcast coverage.

Here is my Notre Dame vs Stanford prediction and pick, plus the latest odds for this Saturday Night CFB showdown.

Notre Dame vs Stanford Prediction and Pick

The Irish’s scorching hot streak has them firmly back in the CFP odds conversation. They enter the week ranked ninth, but there’s a chance they could be bumped from the final 12, since they don’t have a conference championship to play for.

In order to prevent that, they’ll need one more dominant showing to punctuate their case. Last week was a good example of what this program is capable of, as they routed Syracuse 70-7.

Jeremiyah Love was the offensive star, putting on a performance that vaulted him into Heisman Trophy odds consideration. Love rushed for 173 yards and 3 TD, and he did so on just eight carries.

While Love gets the bulk of the attention in the Notre Dame offense, we shouldn’t sleep on QB CJ Carr. The freshman has thrown for 2,536 yards so far, with an impressive 22-to-6 TD-to-INT ratio. Carr has tossed 8 TD passes over his last four starts, and enters the week completing 67% of his throws.

For the season, the Irish rank third in the country in scoring, averaging 41.4 points per game. They’re second in yards per play (7.3) and 20th in third-down conversion rate.

As for the matchup, it’s one Notre Dame can exploit. Stanford ranks 78th in defensive success rate and 73rd in points per drive allowed. They’re yielding 284.5 passing yards per game, while their defensive front ranks bottom-10 in line yards surrendered.

What also shouldn’t be overlooked is the Irish always have the football. The Notre Dame defense has morphed into one of the stingiest units in college football, and they’re constantly forcing turnovers and punts, giving the ball back to their offense.

It’s one of the main reasons why I like them to exceed 40.5 points today. They’ll dominate time of possession because the Cardinal simply can’t punch back. Stanford ranks 120th in points per game, and 124th in total offense. That’s not going to threaten the Irish, who are top-20 in scoring defense, opponent yards per play, sack percentage and takeaways.

The best place to bet Notre Dame over 40.5 points is at BetRivers. They’re a full point lower on the Irish’s team total than the rest of the commercial books like FanDuel.

As for the latest Notre Dame vs Stanford odds, the Irish are -20000 moneyline favorites, with the Cardinal coming back as +3500 underdogs. Total-wise, the number sits at 49.5, a line that the Irish could clear pretty feasibly by themselves.
