Broncos vs Commanders SGP Leg #1 – RJ Harvey Is About to Break Out

We’ve all been hearing about the RJ Harvey breakout season since this summer. He was going to take the Denver Broncos’ starting running back job and then break all of Terrell Davis’s rushing records. It was going to be glorious until it wasn’t. JK Dobbins ended up being good, and the rest is history.

But, as fate would have it, Dobbins went down for the year, so the fantasy guys are calling for RJ’s breakout to start now. I’m in.

Here’s the thing: I always liked RJ Harvey, but Dobbins was balling early, so it was tough for him to get on the field. It happens. But now, he’s the guy, and I’m guessing he gets at least 15 carries tonight, which should be enough for a 50-burger. The haters are going to ask why he didn’t do it last week, since that’s when he became “the guy”, but that was never going to happen. RJ needs a softer target than the Kansas City Chiefs.

Lucky for RJ (and us), he’s got just about the softest target in the NFL in the Washington Commanders. For starters, they aren’t going to move the ball against Denver’s defense, so we won’t have to worry about the Broncos chasing points. That should allow more than enough time for Harvey to get going. We just watched two straight Commanders games where they gave up 120+ rushing yards to a running back. We only need 50. Feels easy.

DEN vs WASH Same-Game Parlay Leg #2 – Jaleel McLaughlin Will Get His Touches Too

The one knock on RJ Harvey is his size. The guy is 5’8″ and only 205 pounds. While that’s pretty big on the streets, it’s not so big for an NFL running back. Why is that important? Because Denver can’t just snap the ball and give it to RJ every time. They’ll need someone else.

That someone else could easily be Jaleel McLaughlin.

It’s tough to get behind a guy who has only carried the ball seven times this season, but here we are. If it makes us feel any better, six of those carries were last week. McLaughlin has a new role, and if we’re being honest, that role should ask him to run the ball more than six times a game.

That’s important because the Commanders give it up on the ground. Not only have they gotten torched by the lead back in each of their last two games, but the backup also motor-boated them. Both Ollie Gordon and David Montgomery broke them off for 45+ yards each. We only need 15 yards from McLaughlin tonight. Feels easy.
