People say it all the time, but time flies. That might be the truest thing that everyone says. It seems like just yesterday we were putting in our season win total bets, and now we’re betting on Conference Championship games. Blows my mind.

But all that aside, we need to lock in. Our minds need to get unblown, and they need to do it now because we’ve got games tonight. And the two that I’m focusing on start at the exact same time, so we’ll be getting double-teamed. That’s always a fun, safe way to spend a Friday night. It’s time to lock in.

College Football Conference Championship Pick #1 – Boise State Rolls

My first thought when I saw this game on the schedule was “UNLV”. I was a big Larry Johnson guy, and those teams from the early 90’s shaped my entire existence. They made me the man I am today, and I’m not afraid to admit that.

Then I remembered what happens when Maddux Madsen plays the Runnin’ Rebels.

Just last week, we took Utah State because Maddux was out. It was a good move because, although Boise won, Utah State covered. It was the Aggies’ first home loss of the season, so it really was a big deal. The Broncos’ overcoming a two-score deficit sealed the deal for me. I’m in on these kids.

We should be aware that this isn’t some BS UNLV team, though. They’re 10-2 right now, but one of those losses was against Boise State in Boise. Not only was it a loss, but it was a beating. We’re talking 56-31, and if we’re being honest, they were out of the game the second they got off the bus. I have a hard time believing they’ll go to Boise and do better the second time around. They could get waxed again.

College Football Conference Championship Pick #2 – North Texas Feels Right

Friday nights are for the dawgs. Everyone knows that. It’s been that way since I was a kid. Lucky for us, even on a short slate like this, we’re able to back a bunch of absolute dawgs in North Texas.

This team is special as they are a 50-year-old team. That’s basically like a 50-year storm. If you saw Point Break, you know exactly how special that was.

I know the haters are going to say that North Texas is losing its coach, but so is Tulane, so that argument is pretty much dead. Both guys will still be around to coach, so I don’t really think it will matter. It’s not like we’re looking at a Lane Kiffin situation here. We’re good.

The weather for this game looks a little sus, but I think that favors the Mean Green. They’ve got the best offense in College Football in terms of yards per play, and even with a little rain, it should still work. Even if they’re forced to stay on the ground, that will work too, since their ground game ranks 14th-best in the country.

Anyway we slice it, they should be able to move the ball up and down the field Friday night. They should win this thing by way more than three points. Feels easy.
