We’re getting football and basketball on Christmas Day, and we’re here for it. Can we watch it all? Honestly, I think we can. With how prevalent multi-screens are these days, we can watch pretty much everything at the same time. Still, I’m thinking about keeping my bets in SGPs. Lions vs Vikings SGP Leg #1 – David Montgomery Rises
Christmas is about coming together. It happens every year. Hell, it happens even before Christmas Day. Go anywhere a week or so before Christmas and just look at how happy everyone is. It’s hard not to be. It’s a happy time.
That’s why it’s awesome that the Detroit Lions are playing on Christmas, because if any two people in this world need to come together, it’s Dan Campbell and David Montgomery.
Dan Campbell started calling plays a few weeks ago, and that has been a bad thing for Montgomery. He’s gone from “splitting time” with Jahmyr Gibbs to barely ever seeing the field. Just last week, he only played 18% of the snaps. His absence is noticeable.
The thing is, last week’s game had a lot to do with the game script. It was a “throw the ball all over the field” game. I have a hard time thinking we’ll see the same thing play out on Christmas Day. The Vikings’ offense is in hell right now, so there’s no chance they’ll be able to match scores with Detroit. At some point, this will turn into a grind-it-out type strategy for the Lions, which plays right into Montgomery’s hands. He’s getting 30+ rushing yards. Feels right.
DET vs MIN Same-Game Parlay Leg #2 – The Lions Will Not Lose This Game
There have been a ton of grave dances done already, even though the Lions aren’t officially eliminated from playoff contention. They look dead in the water, but if they win their final two games, and Green Bay loses its final two games, they’re in. It’s not likely, but there is a chance.
It’s not like Detroit is a “bad” team. They’ve got multiple weird losses.
I’m guessing Dan Campbell has them ready for this game. I know it’s on the road, but it’s not like the Lions have terrible home-road splits. They’ve beaten the Ravens, Bengals, and Commanders on the road so far this season, so there is that. Those teams aren’t exactly good, but neither are the Minnesota Vikings.
There is a good chance JJ McCarthy will be out for this game, but in my opinion, that doesn’t even matter. He’s better than Max Brosmer, but that isn’t saying much. If we do see Brosmer (which looks like a certainty at this point), we’re gold. I don’t want to be mean to Max, but he’s simply not ready to play quarterback in the NFL. The Lions are going to win this game. Feels easy.
