  • No. 4 Oregon takes on No. 5 Texas Tech Thursday in the College Football Playoff Quarterfinals
  • Texas Tech’s elite defense will attempt to slow the playmakers on Oregon’s elite offense
  • Top-rated sportsbooks are offering plenty of Oregon vs. Texas Tech player prop odds for the Orange Bowl

It will be strength vs. strength when No. 5 Oregon plays No. 4 Texas Tech in a College Football Playoff Quarterfinal at the Orange Bowl.

Oregon brings the nation’s second-ranked opponent-adjusted offense into the matchup, while the Red Raiders sport the nation’s second-ranked opponent-adjusted defense.

That should make for an exciting matchup on the field, and certainly made setting college football player props interesting for sportsbooks. Below I dive into those and provide my best bets for Oregon vs. Texas Tech player prop odds.

Both quarterbacks have been prolific this season, with Dante Moore averaging nearly 235 yards passing per game and Behren Morton averaging just over 240. Their totals here, 228.5 and 232.5, respectively, line up well with their season output and the defenses they’re up against.

Oregon running back Noah Whittington has the highest rushing total at 68.5, while Tech’s Cameron Dickey is not far behind at 64.5. Texas Tech’s Caleb Douglas has the highest total for receiving yards at BetMGM at 55.5. Oregon tight end Kenyon Sadiq is the only Duck receiver listed, coming in at 45.5, just ahead of his season average of 42.4.

Oregon vs. Texas Tech Player Prop Best Bets

The odds listed above reflect typical over/under odds on player props to give you a baseline. But please remember to line shop at as many of the best sports betting apps as you have access to in order to get the best odds. That includes player milestones.

Oregon vs. Texas Tech Prop #1: Behren Morton Under 232.5 Pass Yards

After all the buildup about Oregon’s offense vs. Texas Tech’s defense, of course I’m going to open with a prop on the other side.

Morton has been great all year, and Texas Tech is unbeaten when he plays. His 2,643 yards on the season, mixed with a 67 percent completion percentage and 22-4 TD-INT ratio are all great.

But his average yards per game are boosted greatly by massive performances against Oregon State, Houston and West Virginia. In fact, he’s only gone over 232.5 five times in 11 games this season.

He’s been battling a leg injury since about midseason, and while he’s getting better, he’s still not at 100%.

Oregon, meanwhile, has had just three passers reach the 200-yard mark on the season — Indiana Heisman Trophy winner Fernando Mendoza (215), USC’s Jayden Maiava (330) and James Madison’s Alonza Barnett III (273 of his team’s 323).

Morton isn’t on the level of Mendoza or Maiava as a passer, and I highly doubt Tech will be chasing as much as James Madison was in the first round.

Oregon vs. Texas Tech Prop #2: Dante Moore Over 1.5 Pass TDs

Finding room to do much of anything against Texas Tech is hard, but it’s much more difficult to run on the Red Raiders than pass.

They are allowing just 2.3 yards per carry on the season, and all but one team (Kansas State at 4.2) were held under 3.5. And, just to drive the point of how good this defense is home, KSU was the only team to eclipse five yards per play.

Tech has allowed just 11 passing TDs all season, and only two teams have thrown for two in a single game (Oregon State and Kansas).

But Moore will be the best QB the Red Raiders have faced all year, and he could be getting multiple weapons back. Receiver Dakorien Moore played sparingly against James Madison after getting hurt in late October, but has been practicing in the lead up to this one. Gary Bryant Jr., who hasn’t played since Nov. 8, has also been practicing for the Ducks.

Moore has been pretty good even without those two, throwing for nine TDs in his past four games. He’s tossed two or more in eight of 13 on the season.

The touchdown prop market for Oregon vs. Texas Tech shows the depth of Oregon’s weapons, with five players between +110 and +175 to score on DraftKings. The Ducks have the No. 2 ranked F+ offense in the country, and have had 14 different players score at least one touchdown. Jordon Davison leads the way with 13 TDs on the season, all on the ground.

Tech spreads the wealth, too, with 11 touchdown scorers on the year, including Nagurski winning linebacker Jacob Rodriguez. Dickey’s 16 total touchdowns leads the Red Raiders, with 14 of them coming on the ground.

Oregon vs. Texas Tech Prop #3: Kenyon Sadiq Anytime TD

The return of Moore and Bryant Jr. are going to help Moore a ton, but as a bettor, their presence sends my eyes immediately to Sadiq.

I don’t think he’s going to see more targets, necessarily, but having more threats spread out on the field can decongest the red zone.

Sadiq has eight touchdown catches on the season, and five of those came in Oregon’s first seven games, with both Moore and Bryant Jr. in the lineup.

The 6-foot-3, 245-pound tight end is a matchup nightmare, even for Texas Tech’s spectacular linebackers. And while they’re used to guarding people in space against pass-happy Big XII teams, Sadiq is simply a different type of challenge, especially near the endzone.
