Switzerland (1-1) and Czechia (1-1) meet Sunday morning with second place in Group A on the line. Both teams beat France, and both got thumped by Canada, so this game should tell us a lot about where these two stand heading into the elimination rounds.

Both of these teams have legitimate motivation here. The winner finishes second in Group A and has a shot at earning a quarterfinal bye depending on the out-of-group scoreboard. That’s why I don’t expect either side to play loose.

Switzerland shut out France 4-0 in their opener, and the defense looked excellent. Roman Josi, Jonas Siegenthaler and J.J. Moser anchor a blue line that held up better than you’d think against Canada too. The 5-1 final doesn’t tell the whole story — the Swiss actually generated 12 slot shots and looked competitive for long stretches before the Canadians pulled away.

Czechia beat France 6-3 on Friday, but it wasn’t as comfortable as the score looks. They led 2-0 and then gave it up, falling behind 3-2 in the second period before scoring four unanswered. Dan Vladar struggled in net, and Lukas Dostal is expected to get the start Sunday, which is a step up.

Both teams will be cautious about injuries heading into the elimination round, and Switzerland is already dealing with a major one after Kevin Fiala was stretchered off the ice against Canada. Losing Fiala hurts their offensive ceiling, but I think it also tightens this game. The Swiss won’t be chasing goals, they’ll lean on their structure.

I see a 3-1 or 3-2 type game. Both would stay under 5.5. Take the under as my Switzerland vs Czechia prediction.

• David Pastrnak Anytime Goal (+130 at bet365)

Pastrnak scored his first goal of the Olympics against France and had six goals in eight games at last year’s World Championships. He only had three shots on goal through the first two games, which feels low for a guy who’s posted 42 points in his last 27 games with the Bruins.

If he gets three or four shots on net Sunday, which I expect against a Swiss team that’s missing Fiala and may play a more conservative game, Pastrnak can find the back of the net. The +130 price is fair for a player of his caliber.

• Roman Josi Over 3.5 Shots on Goal (+150 at bet365)

Josi is going to be asked to do even more without Fiala in the lineup. The Swiss captain generated three shots on goal and two inner-slot attempts against Canada, and he played nearly 27 minutes in that game. His workload will likely be similar Sunday.

He’s been in great form with the Predators too — eight goals and 23 points over his last 20 NHL games, averaging 3.1 shots on goal per game in that stretch. Czechia allowed 36 shots against Canada and three goals on just 12 French shots. I like Josi to get his looks here at +150.

The Switzerland vs Czechia odds have this as the tightest game on Sunday’s Olympic hockey schedule. Czechia is -140 on the moneyline with Switzerland at +120, and the spread is just 1.5 goals. The total sits at 5.5, juiced heavily to the under at -160.

The 3-way 60-minute line is even closer — Switzerland +210, draw +320, Czechia +100. That tells you books are expecting a competitive game that could go to overtime.

Czechia has dominated this matchup recently. They’re 7-1 in their last eight meetings against Switzerland, including a 4-0 win at the Karjala Tournament in November and a 5-3 win at the Swiss Hockey Games in December. Both of those were Euro Hockey Tour games, meaning these rosters are very familiar with each other heading into Sunday.
