Another NFL season has come and gone, but the drama never ends with the new league year starting next month with free agency. Maxx Crosby has been a rare bright spot with the Las Vegas Raiders for several years, but tensions reached a boiling point at the end of last campaign, with LV deciding to rest him the final two affairs. Crosby didn’t take too kindly to that, so the rumor mill is in full force.

The graph below shows the current odds for where Crosby will land at prediction site Kalshi or whether the team will mend fences.

It’s obviously incredible safe to say the Raiders aren’t among the contenders in the Super Bowl odds after finishing with the worst record in 2025. Should Crosby move on to greener pastures it’ll set the franchise back even further. The outstanding defensive end has racked up at least seven sacks in all seven NFL seasons, with 14.5 his high water mark in 2023. Crosby is most certainly in the discussion in the NFL Defensive Player of the Year odds.

Currently on Kalshi, Crosby returning to Sin City or retiring has the highest percentage of happening (54%), followed by the Commanders at 38% and Bengals (31%). The NFL MVP odds aren’t bullish on any defensive player claiming it, with all offensive players doing so since Lawrence Taylor snagged it as a defensive player way back in 1986. If Crosby finds a squad that’s a Super Bowl contender, he definitely could potentially gain traction in the MVP chase, though that would still be unlikely.

Raiders Still Most Likely Team Maxx Crosby Plays For

Oftentimes after a difficult season things get said between the team and player that have a way of working themselves out. The Raiders, who don’t boast a ton of talent on the roster, surely desperately hope Maxx Crosby chooses to stick around after it appeared he was all but gone.

There are a few factors that could point to Crosby staying put – the defensive coordinator hiring of Rob Leonard, who worked with Crosby last year, plus a new coaching staff led by the OC of the Super Bowl Champion Seahawks in Klint Kubiak. Additionally, the Raiders have the first overall pick in the draft, where they’re expected to select quarterback Fernando Mendoza. LV also has the second most cap room at just over $91 million.

Teams Maxx Crosby Could Play For

The Washington Commanders and Cincinnati Bengals are the two franchises most likely to snag Crosby, and that tracks after both defenses were miserable last year. Cincy allowed the third most points per game, and Washington sixth worst. The Commanders hold the fifth most salary cap space, with the Bengals seventh. It’s possible with both having down seasons that Crosby nixes any possible trade, instead preferring to play for a contender after so many bad campaigns with the Raiders.

A chat with new HC Kubiak reportedly went well between the two men, and like the prediction market Kalshi has, I’d lean towards him staying. If he does get dealt, however, him and his $35M salary I could see heading to the Eagles, who are 16% to land the star DE. GM Howie Roseman is never one that’s shy to make bold moves, plus enigmatic WR A.J. Brown and his $23M price tag could be traded, as he’s feuded with Jalen Hurts in a disappointing Eagles 2025 season.
