Slovakia vs USA Props #1: Jack Eichel Anytime Goalscorer

• Jack Eichel Anytime Goalscorer (+160 at Bet365)

Eichel did everything but score in Team USA’s quarterfinal victory, leading all forwards in shots on goal (5) and ice time (21:24). He’s lit the lamp only once in four games so far, but it certainly hasn’t been a lack of opportunity that’s held him back.

Eichel ranks second on the team in shots on goal so far with 17, and is tied for the team lead in slot shots (12), as well as inner slot shots (7). He’s already scored 21 goals this year with Vegas, and considering he’s routinely averaged a shooting percentage north of 11% during his NHL career, it’s safe to say positive regression is coming his way on the Olympic stage.

Slovakia has been vulnerable to slot chances all tournament long, surrendering 21 more than any of the other three remaining semifinal teams so far.

Slovakia vs USA Props #2: Matt Boldy Anytime Goalscorer

The American Eichel is tied with in slot shots and inner slot shots is Boldy. The Wild forward has the edge in total shots on goal (18 to 17), and fired four more pucks on target in the quarterfinal.

I bet Boldy at longer odds to score against Sweden, but I still feel he’s mispriced in the semis versus Slovakia. He was second among fowards in shots versus the Swedes and second in ice time as well. Boldy played more and has created more opportunities than Matthews, the Tkachuk brothers, Tage Thompson and Jake Guentzel during the Olympics, yet they’re all priced shorter than him to score on Friday.

I’ll gladly take the discount, and will take comfort in knowing his stellar Olypmic play is simply a carryover from his NHL performance. Boldy currently ranks T-3 in goals this season, behind only Hart Trophy odds contenders Nathan MacKinnon and Connor McDavid.

Slovakia vs USA Props #3: Juraj Slafkovsky 1+ Points

The Olympics have been Slafkovsky’s coming out party. The Montreal Canadiens forward leads Slovakia in virtually every offensive category, and logs more ice than any of his fellow Slovak forwards.

He ranks fourth in the entire tournament in shots, 11th in slot shots, and 16th in total chance contributions. Yes, Slovakia is a heavy underdog on Friday, but they’ve been exceeding expectations all tournament long, and won’t go down without a fight. Slafkovsky had 5 points combined versus Finland and Sweden in round robin play, and I’ll bet he gets on the scoresheet versus the Americans as well.
