Saturdays are the best day of the week. It’s been like that since we were all kids. Maybe even before that. There’s just something about having most of the weekend still ahead of us, even though one leg of the weekend (Friday night) has already been kicked out. It’s that “down but not out ” spirit that makes us feel so alive. I can’t get enough of it.

Another thing I can’t get enough of is home runs. Last night, we got a little taste of donge season as the weather is finally warming up a little and guys are starting to feel it. My guess is that this continues into the day and through the summer. The smartest thing we can do at this point is find three guys that we know for a fact want to go yards today and toss a little cash on them. Feels right.

Saturday HR Pick #1 – Carter Jensen Woke Up

Sometimes it takes a guy a little extra time to wake up. We’re not all robots; some people are different. Carter Jensen is one of those guys. We chased him around at the end of last season, looking for a power surge, and while he did hit .300, he only hit three home runs.

This season has been a little different as he already has three dingers and now he has a date with the dinger doctor, Erick Fedde.

I’m sure Fedde is a great hang, but lefties should do damage against him all season long. Last season, he gave up 14 of his 19 dingers to that side of the plate, and this season it looks like it will be more of the same. He stopped throwing his sinker as much, but early results have not yielded any progress. My guess is Carter will get a hold of a sweeper today, but if we’re being honest, it could really be anything Fedde throws. Feels easy.

Saturday HR Pick #2 – Gary Sanchez Still Has It

Sometimes we have to just play the hits. Go with the old guys that we all know and love. You do it, I do it, everyone does it. That Old Guy today is Gary Sanchez. I know he’s only 33 but it definitely feels like he’s pushing 40. I’m sure he’d agree.

Another thing he’d agree on is the fact that he is still smoking fastballs after all these years. Especially from lefties like Foster Griffin.

I don’t know a ton about Foster except for the fact that he was out of the league for multiple years before returning this season. Honestly, I think we can make a lot of coin on his strikeout props if they stay at 3.5, but we can also make a little dough fading his fastballs to righties. Especially the four-seamer. Gary has always been a fastball guy from lefties, and he’s going to see a few of them tonight. I’d be shocked if he didn’t hit one of them over the fence. Feels right.

Saturday HR Pick #3 – Jordan Walker Is On One

Every year, guys come out of nowhere and just start cranking bombs. This year, one of the guys doing it is Jordan Walker. I know he didn’t “come out of nowhere” persay, but nobody thought he was going to be hitting the ball like he is now. It’s been wild.

His torrid pace could keep up tonight when he sees Ranger Suarez and the Boston Red Sox.

Here’s the thing with Suarez: he’s never really been a dong guy. That doesn’t mean he won’t give up a home run or two; it just means we don’t get that excited to see his name when we’re targeting pitchers. Today, I got a little excited because he’s throwing a changeup to righties that is getting pumped. Fernando Tatis just hit one 105 MPH last time out. If Walker sees one, it could end up on the moon. Feels right.
