The Tampa Bay Rays (30-15) look to maintain their offensive momentum as they continue their series against the Baltimore Orioles (21-26) tonight. Online sportsbooks like their chances, pegging the Rays as -110 moneyline favorites in the MLB odds, in a contest with a 7.5-run total.

Coming off a 16-6 blowout victory over the Orioles yesterday, the Rays flexed their lineup depth with an 18-hit performance. Despite the heavy defeat, the Orioles showed flashes of power with home runs from Adley Rutschman and Weston Wilson, though their pitching staff ultimately collapsed.

The division rivals will clash at Tropicana Field with the first pitch scheduled for 6:40 PM EST, and the broadcast airing on regional networks.

Keep reading for my top Orioles vs Rays predictions and player props to bet on May 19, below.

My top bet tonight is backing the Rays on the moneyline . The primary edge lies in the stark pitching disparity between the two clubs. The Rays boast a collective 3.63 team ERA, anchored by a starting rotation that has pitched to a 3.03 ERA. Conversely, the Orioles have struggled heavily on the mound, carrying a team ERA of 4.96. With Griffin Jax taking the mound against Kyle Bradish, the Rays hold a clear situational advantage from the first pitch.

When it comes to the game total, Over 7.5 runs is my preferred angle. Both offenses have proven they can manufacture runs, and neither team’s relief corps has been impenetrable. The Orioles have a vulnerable bullpen surrendering a 4.66 ERA, while the Rays’ relievers have posted a 4.44 ERA. With the Orioles mashing home runs consistently, and the Rays crossing the plate 223 times this season, I expect a high-scoring affair.

Griffin Jax vs Kyle Bradish Stats

Griffin Jax (Rays)0-01.291.215.055.145.21.2133.50
Kyle Bradish (Orioles)2-54.211.533.939.964.79.2635.22

*BB/9 and IP/Start reflect data from the pitchers’ last 10 games.

This pitching matchup in the MLB starting lineups features two right-handers with contrasting statistical profiles. Jax boasts a pristine 1.29 season ERA across four starts, but his elevated 5.05 FIP and 5.14 K/9 suggest he’s been getting very lucky. Averaging just 3.5 innings per start recently, the Rays will need to lean on their bullpen early. I see this as a key reason to target the Over.

Bradish has struggled to a 2-5 record and a 4.21 ERA. However, his 3.93 FIP indicates he has pitched better than his surface-level numbers imply. Bradish possesses strong strikeout stuff, fanning 9.9 batters per 9 innings. His primary issue has been traffic on the basepaths, evidenced by a 1.53 WHIP. Unlike Jax, Bradish averages 5.2 innings per outing, which the Orioles desperately need to spare their vulnerable relief corps.

Avg. Exit Velocity86.2 mph [30th]90.7 mph [1st]

Parsing through the situational splits paints a vivid picture of how these two offenses operate. The Rays have turned their home ballpark into a fortress, boasting a .273 home batting average and generating 5 runs per game. They constantly apply pressure to opposing pitching staffs, swiping 1.00 base per home game. This offensive prowess is why they’re shooting up the World Series odds board.

The Orioles present a glaring statistical anomaly. When playing on the road, their hitters lead the league with a 90.7 mph average exit velocity. Yet, that raw power has not translated into offensive consistency. The Orioles rank 26th in road batting average (.224) and manage just 4.17 runs per game. Their lack of speed on the basepaths prevents them from creating runs when the bats go cold.

Looking at recent betting trends, the Rays have been exceptionally reliable when favored, boasting an 18-4 straight-up record (.818 win percentage). In contrast, the Orioles have struggled as ‘dogs, posting a 7-14 (.333) record as the underdog. Furthermore, high-scoring games have been the norm for the Rays lately, with the Over cashing in 8 of their last 10 contests.

Shifting gears to the MLB props, where my best value play is Yandy Diaz Over 1.5 Total Bases at +129. Diaz leads the Rays with a .310 batting average, 31 RBIs, and a .480 slugging percentage. Per the MLB batter vs pitcher stats, Diaz has absolutely owned Brandish throughout his career. He’s 8-for-19 against him, with a .579 slugging percentage and 1.055 OPS.
