Connor Bedard arrived in Chicago with as much hype as any rookie in years, and he backed it up. A fractured jaw cost him a month of action, yet the No. 1 pick still ran away with the 2024 Calder Trophy.

Here are the notes on how the 2024 Calder odds moved:

• [Jan 31] Adam Fantilli has fallen to a +7500 Calder longshot after it was announced he will be out eight weeks with a lacerated calf.
• [Jan 22] Bedard will miss another six weeks with his injury, leading sportsbooks to drop his Calder odds to -180. Faber, meanwhile, has shortened to +450.
• [Jan 10] Bedard will miss 4-6 weeks with a fractured jaw, meaning his Calder odds will likely take a hit. Sportsbooks took down their Calder futures following the injury on January 5th, though Bedard was as heavy as -500 at FanDuel before the game.
• [Jan 1] Faber’s odds have shortened even further to +1200 as he’s looking like a legitimate challenger to Bedard. The Blackhawks’ rookie continues to bolster his number (-412) with his dazzling play, including a recent “Michigan” goal.
• [Dec 15] Minnesota Wild defenseman Brock Faber has started making a major push for the Calder. The 21-year-old has seen his odds shorten from +8000 to +2000ish as he leads all Wild players in average ice time (23:40).
• [Nov 15] Bedard is now a heavy -280 favorite in the Calder odds after recording back-to-back multi-goal games. He leads all NHL rookies with nine goals in 13 contests.
• [Nov 3] Yotes rookie Logan Cooley is getting love from one sportsbook after his impressive start. With eight points in 10 games, FanDuel has shortened Cooley’s Calder odds to +440, though DK still lists him at +750.
• [Sept 1] Bedard’s odds have lengthened to -130 as more sportsbooks open their Calder markets. While no other rookie is gaining serious traction yet, the shift implies the books don’t view Bedard as a lock.
• [July 26] Chicago Blackhawks rookie phenom Connor Bedard has opened as the heavy -155 favorite to win the 2024 Calder at DraftKings. Devils’ defenseman Luke Hughes has the next-best odds at +500, with Sabres’ goalie Devon Levi (+900) rounding out the top-three.
