  • The Golden Knights can take a 3-1 series strangehold on the Hurricanes in Stanley Cup Final Game 4 action
  • All three games of the Cup Final have seen the over goals total hit, but which goalie will start for the Canes?
  • See my preview for the Hurricanes vs Golden Knights Game 4 along with a favorite NHL player props pick

The Stanley Cup Final has been absolutely bonkers through three games, with the first two duels featuring a team erasing a two-goal deficit to win, and then Game 3 was even more wild. The Vegas Golden Knights were up 4-0, aided by a Mitch Marner natural hat trick, but coughed up three goals in a 39 second span in the third period and the Canes tied it late. In double overtime, a fortuitous bounce went Vegas’ way, and Shea Theodore avoided disaster for the Knights, who went up 2-1 in the series.

The NHL odds for this crucial Game 4 tilt have Carolina as the favorites to knot this series up at two games apiece. It’s still a mystery whether Carolina will start Frederik Andersen or Brandon Bussi in net. Puck drop is set for 5 PM PT / 8 PM ET, and can be seen on ABC in the United States and Sportsnet in Canada. The Knights are -185 favorites in the Stanley Cup odds, while the Canes are +155 underdogs. Keep reading for my preview for Game 4, along with a favorite NHL player prop wager I’m intrigued by.

Stanley Cup Final Game 4 Best Bets and Predictions

  • Hurricanes vs Golden Knights Pick: Over 5.5 Total Goals (-130 at FanDuel)
  • Player Props Pick: Sebastian Aho Over 0.5 Points (-160 at BetMGM)

Through the first three games, these squads have combined for 24 total snipes for an average of eight per outing. Before the Cup Final, Frederik Andersen had a sparkling 1.41 GAA and .931 save, while his counterpart Carter Hart had a 2.22 GAA and .924 save percentage. In the Cup Final, the former has been gashed to the tune of a 4.44 GAA and .815 SV%, while the latter has a 3.45 GAA and .864 save percentage.

With the wild nature of this series, I see no reason why Game 4 won’t be more of the same, so I’m bullish on six or more goals being accumulated, regardless of whether Andersen or Brandon Bussi starts for the Canes.

In the NHL Player Props market, my prediction is that Sebastian Aho steps up in a massive way. Following a tough Game 3 loss, Aho will be leaned on heavily to make this a competitive series. He has three assists in the last two games, and has picked up at least one point in four of five battles.

Aho has a proven track record of stepping up when his team needs a bounce-back performance the most. He has recorded a point in nine of his last ten skirmishes following a loss. I’m projecting Aho to register at least one point in this must-win spot for Carolina.

The Hurricanes are being tight lipped about which goalie will start Game 4. Freddy Andersen was yanked in Game 3 after giving up four goals on 16 shots, and Brandon Bussi was solid in his place, stopping 18 of 19 pucks.

Both CAR and VGK goaltenders have had a tough time in this Stanley Cup Final. They’ve surrendered twelve goals each in the first three games of the series. Frederik Andersen has a ghastly save percentage of .815, while Carter Hart hasn’t been as bad at .864%.
