The stakes are sky-high on August 15 as the promotion heads to Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia for a massive fight night. The main card kicks off at 9:00 PM ET on Paramount+ and brings serious value for bettors hunting a mathematical edge.

Finding value requires fading the public noise and trusting the data behind the heavy juice. I have locked in my reads based on the matchups and the stylistic metrics.

The main event is the only fight on this card priced as a clear mismatch that the market still expects to go long, with Makhachev at -350 and the Over 4.5 sitting at -165. Esteban Ribovics at -700 and Mansur Abdul-Malik at -650 are the two heaviest chalks on the board, which pushes the value on both of those matchups into the round totals and the method markets.

Mackenzie Dern vs. Gillian Robertson and Jalin Turner vs. Kaue Fernandes feature the two closest live dogs, with Robertson at +170 and Fernandes at even money. The short 1.5-round totals on the bottom three fights tell you oddsmakers are pricing in early finishes across the back half of the card.

Makhachev vs Machado Garry Prediction

I like the Makhachev vs Garry Over 4.5 because this is not a clean finishing setup either way. They are a combined 45-2, and the only stoppage loss between them is Makhachev’s flash KO to Adriano Martins in 2015. Garry is not the type of fighter to replicate that success.

Garry is also the much longer man at 6-foot-3 with a 74-inch reach, while Makhachev stands 5-foot-10 with a 70-inch reach. Makhachev, the pound-for-pound No. 1 fighter, is still the more skilled athlete, but I expect him to need time finding his range and tracking down the constantly moving Garry.

Garry moves well off the back foot, uses long-range weapons, and has already banked hard grappling minutes against elite opposition. He went five rounds with Shavkat Rakhmonov, landed 102 total strikes, and added two submission attempts in that fight. Garry will not likely play that game with Makhachev, but hard sparring rounds with Demian Maia and Charles Oliveira at the Chute Boxe gym will have him prepared for Makhachev’s wrestling.

Makhachev can absolutely win minutes with control, like he did with 19:10 of control and 4-for-4 takedowns against Jack Della Maddalena. I just do not see a fast wipeout. Garry’s size, durability and footwork should keep this competitive enough to reach a decision.

UFC 330 Best Bet: Dern vs Robertson Prediction

Robertson needs to win two rounds to cover the underdog point spread, and I do not see that happening. Her path is obvious: chain wrestling, top time, and enough ground and pound to bank minutes.

The problem is that taking Dern down is very different from controlling her round after round. Dern’s 37 percent takedown defense makes the first layer scary, but her guard and scrambling change the math. Few opponents are more dangerous from bottom position than Dern, one of the greatest female Brazilian jiu-jitsu grapplers of all time.

Virna Jandiroba landed nine takedowns and had 9:07 of control against Dern, and Dern still won a five-round decision while landing 118 significant strikes and 249 total strikes. That supports my read that Robertson can have grappling success without owning enough rounds. Opponents rarely control Dern effectively enough to land ground-and-pound or threaten submissions to win rounds. They instead beat her with striking, which Robertson lacks.

On the feet, Dern brings the pressure and power. Robertson has improved, but she is still most comfortable when she can slow the fight down on top.

Dern’s losses have come against sharper strikers who could hurt her and out-work her standing, and that is not Robertson’s usual fight. Even if the challenger has success landing takedowns, she will need to be perfect for 25 minutes to execute that game plan against Dern.

• UFC 330 Pick #2: Mackenzie Dern -5.5 (+105 at Bet365)

Turner vs Fernandes Pick: Under 1.5 Rounds

This under fits both records and both styles. Turner is 15-9, and every one of his wins has ended before the 1.5-round mark. Fernandes is 11-2, and eight of his 11 wins have also gone Under 1.5. That is exactly the kind of volatility I want when the total is this low.

Fernandes is the cleaner technician and a nasty kicker. He just knocked out Harry Hardwick in Round 1, landed 24 significant strikes on 60 percent accuracy, and had a 13-second control total because he never needed to wrestle. All Fernandes did was repeatedly land leg kicks that took Hardwick out of the fight before it could even get going.

Against Guram Kutateladze, he landed 79 significant strikes and scored two knockdowns over three rounds. Leg kicks were also the focal point of that game plan.

Against the tall and skinny-legged Turner, Fernandes will definitely come out targeting calves yet again. He will have a difficult time hitting the 6-foot-3 in the head, but Turner has been susceptible to leg kicks before.

Yet, Turner makes up for his defensive woes with lethal one-punch power. He has landed 10 knockdowns in his 15 UFC fights, including six knockout victories.

Fernandes can chew up the legs, but Turner only needs one clean connection while Fernandes is entering or exiting to render him unconscious. But if that does not happen, Fernandes will pick him apart at range.

• UFC 330 Pick #3: Turner vs Fernandes Under 1.5 (-135 at Bet365)

UFC 330 Prediction: Abdul-Malik vs Stoltzfus Over 1.5

Mansur Abdul-Malik has every athletic edge here. He is bigger, stronger, faster, more powerful, and owns an 80-inch reach compared to Stoltzfus at 75 inches.

I still do not want to lay a short-finish angle because the striking is not polished enough yet. The recent numbers back up that concern.

Cody Brundage outlanded him 30-25 in significant strikes, Nick Klein forced him into Round 2 and held 3:01 of control, and Yousri Belgaroui went on to fully expose those holes with 94 significant strikes and two knockdowns in a third-round knockout. Abdul-Malik can win anyway because the physicality is real, but he has not been a clean outside striker.

Stoltzfus is competent enough early to make this messy. He had 5:11 of control and two submission attempts against Nursulton Ruziboev, then went three rounds with Kelvin Gastelum while landing 64 significant strikes. His striking is not UFC_level, but Stoltzfus can grapple with most fighters in the division.

I expect Abdul-Malik to cruise, but it might take him a little bit of time before securing his rebound victory.

Barboza vs Ribovics Best Bet: Esteban Ribovics by KO/TKO

I see too much value on Ribovics by KO/TKO at this line. Barboza is still dangerous early, but the durability and sustainability are not the same anymore.

Barboza’s cleanest route is a Round 1 knockout, and Ribovics has never been knocked out. His cardio and volume overshadow precise defensive mechanics. Ribovics brings the kind of pressure that breaks the current version of Barboza.

When his fights have gone long, the volume has been absurd: 156 significant strikes against Daniel Zellhuber, 147 against Nasrat Haqparast, 122 against Elves Brener, and 115 against Kamuela Kirk. That pace is hard for anyone, especially a 40-year-old battle-worn lightweight.

More than anything, Barboza’s lack of durability is hard to ignore. Jalin Turner dropped him twice with 39 significant strikes in a Round 1 finish in his last time out, and Drakkar Klose had him out on his feet just before that. After decades of going to war with the best in the division, Barboza’s chin has disintegrated.

Once Ribovics settles in, I expect him to pour on combinations until Barboza cannot keep up and the referee steps in.
