  • Bayern Munich’s exceptional home record in the Champions League makes them the clear ML favorites
  • Bodø/Glimt’s recent European scoring record makes the BTTS (-137) an attractive option in Bayern Munich vs Bodø/Glimt predictions
  • Bayern and Bodø’s attacking prowess makes us lean toward the over in goals (O 4.5, -113)

The road to the Champions League final in Madrid begins at the Allianz Arena, where Bayern Munich host Bodø/Glimt in the opening match of the league phase. Bayern are entering their 43rd Champions League campaign, while Bodø/Glimt are competing in only their second. The matchup is also the first competitive meeting between the clubs.

Bayern have started the 2026/27 domestic season unbeaten, with three wins and one draw. Their latest result was a frustrating 0-0 draw at promoted Schalke, despite controlling 83% of possession and creating the better chances. It was their first competitive match without a goal since July 2025, so Vincent Kompany’s team will be eager to respond in front of their home supporters.

The Bavarians have substantial European experience and reached last season’s semifinal, where Paris Saint-Germain eliminated them 6-5 on aggregate. Bayern scored 43 goals during that campaign, a total exceeded by only two teams in Champions League history. Their home record in the competition is even more imposing: they are unbeaten in their last 38 group- or league-phase matches at the Allianz Arena, winning 36 and drawing two. Bayern have also won their opening match in each of their last 22 Champions League campaigns.

Bodø/Glimt are not simply making up the numbers. The Norwegian club reached the last 16 last season after defeating Manchester City and Atlético Madrid in the league phase and eliminating Inter Milan in the knockout playoffs. They also reached the semifinals of the 2024/25 Europa League, losing to eventual champion Tottenham Hotspur. Since a 1-0 defeat to Molde in May, Kjetil Knutsen’s side have gone 18 matches unbeaten in all competitions.

The visitors’ recent European results include away victories over Inter Milan, Atlético Madrid and NEC Nijmegen, as well as a 2-2 draw at Borussia Dortmund. They have lost only once in their last six continental away matches, although they have not kept a clean sheet away from home in the Champions League proper. Bodø/Glimt also face a tactical adjustment: their home surface is artificial, so the club spent time training on grass in southern Germany before traveling to Munich.

The historical matchup is new, but Bayern have never lost to a Norwegian opponent, posting six wins and two draws. Their last meeting with a Norwegian club came against Rosenborg in 2000. Bodø/Glimt drew 2-2 away at Dortmund in 2025 but remain winless against German opposition overall, with two draws and one defeat.

Bodø/Glimt’s numbers make a goals market more appealing than an aggressive Bayern handicap. The Norwegian side have scored at least twice in 11 of their last 12 European matches, while 11 of their last 12 Champions League fixtures cleared 2.5 total goals. Both teams scored in nine of those games.

Bayern should create enough chances to score multiple times, but Bodø/Glimt’s wins and draws against prominent European clubs show that they can punish defensive lapses. Both teams to score is the safer of the two secondary options, while over 2.5 goals offers greater upside if the market gives Bayern a realistic chance of producing a three-goal contribution alone.

BTTS is priced at a market-bet 58 cents (-137) at prediction site Kalshi. Bayern are rightly expected to control the match, but Bodø/Glimt’s recent European history argues against assuming a comfortable rout. They beat Inter and Atlético away from home last season, drew at Dortmund and have lost only once in their last six continental road matches. Their defensive record away from home is vulnerable, but their ability to attack aggressively makes a wide spread risky.

Bayern Munich vs Bodø/Glimt Team News

Harry Kane is the obvious focal point for Bayern. He scored 14 times in last season’s Champions League, averaging a goal every 74 minutes. That was the second-highest single-season total in Bayern’s competition history, behind only Robert Lewandowski’s 15-goal campaign.

Jens Petter Hauge is Bodø/Glimt’s principal attacking threat. His six Champions League goals last season represented the most scored by a Norwegian player in one edition of the competition, and all six came after halftime. That late-game pattern could become especially relevant if Bayern’s pressure forces the visitors to defend deeply early on.

Serge Gnabry is Bayern’s main fitness doubt as he continues to recover from a groin injury. Bodø/Glimt are expected to be without Jostein Gundersen, Håkon Evjen, August Mikkelsen, Magnus Bech Riisnæs and goalkeeper Isak Sjong through injury.

Bayern Munich vs Bodø/Glimt Prediction

Bayern Munich should begin their Champions League campaign with a home victory, but Bodø/Glimt’s European pedigree and aggressive attack make them a dangerous opponent for handicap bettors. The best approach is Bayern to win, with both teams to score as the preferred secondary lean. My projected result is Bayern Munich 3, Bodø/Glimt 1.
