With private Alberta sports betting apps now legal in the province, sportsbooks like BetMGM and DraftKings have entered the market with plenty of hype. That said, theScore Bet Alberta comes onto the sports betting scene with a strong brand name that Canadians already know and love.

First Sunday of the 2026 NFL Season Brings Exciting Matchups

While there is certainly no shortage of great NFL games on tap today, there are a couple that Alberta sports bettors should pay special attention to.

The first is the return of Canada’s adopted team, the Buffalo Bills, as they head into hostile territory against the Houston Texans. After another playoff heartbreak last season, Josh Allen and the Bills are a team on a mission and they’ll need to be firing on all cylinders to compete with the NFL’s best as their core ages.

Shifting over to Sunday Night Football action, it’s the regular season debut of New York Giants head coach John Harbaugh. The 63-year-old Ohio native had previously served as the Baltimore Ravens bench boss from 2008 to 2025 and is certainly the biggest offseason acquisition for the developing squad that is anchored by quarterback Jaxson Dart and running back Cam Skattebo.

The Dallas Cowboys, on the other hand, made some big on-field improvements to their secondary and they’ll certainly look to use against their NFC East rivals.

Another matchup that I’m personally looking forward to is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Cincinnati Bengals game. The Bucs signed quarterback Baker Mayfield to a three-year, $165 million contract extension a few days ago and he’ll go head-to-head against a highly-motivated Joe Burrow.
