It’s a banger of a showdown in Week 2 of the college football season, as the top-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes visit the 4th-ranked Texas Longhorns.

This matchup oozes star power, with quarterbacks Arch Manning and Julian Sayin headlining potent lineups on either sideline, who bring strong early-season production into the game.

My Ohio State vs Texas college football player props focus on passing volume, receiving opportunities and touchdown value.

Action kicks off this evening at 7:30pm ET from DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin, TX, with ABC providing the broadcast coverage.

Below are the available markets and my best prop bets.

Only Manning and Sayin have passing props listed in the current market. Both quarterbacks share a passing touchdown total of 1.5. I noticed Manning’s over odds for his 1.5 passing touchdowns shifted from -136 at the open to a hefty -143. Sayin’s passing touchdown odds remain at their opening numbers.

Prop Bet #1: Arch Manning Passing Yards

Texas shows a stark preference for moving the chains through the air. Of their 516 total offensive yards, a commanding 360 yards came via the passing game. Furthermore, they sustain drives at an elite level with that ridiculous 73.3% third-down success rate.

High passing volume combined with prolonged offensive possessions creates an ideal environment for their quarterback to dominate. Manning isn’t afraid to go yard on early downs, and this offensive scheme heavily favors his right arm over a ground-and-pound approach.

Rushing and Receiving Props

Arch ManningTEX26.5
Bo JacksonOSU56.5
Devin McCuinOSU50.5
Jeremiah SmithOSU83.55.5
Emmett MosleyTEX34.5
Ryan WingoTEX56.5

Bo Jackson holds a rushing yards total of 56.5, identical to its opening line. Manning is the only other player with rushing yards available. In the receiving markets, Smith is the lone player with a posted receptions line. His receiving yards line ticked up from an opening 82.5 to 83.5. Wingo also saw an upward adjustment, moving from 52.5 to 56.5.

Prop Bet #2: Ryan Wingo Receiving Yards

If Manning is going to eclipse his passing yards total, the production must flow through his primary pass-catchers. With Texas generating 360 passing yards and showing extreme efficiency on third downs, targeting the over on their outside threats is a highly logical correlation.

Wingo’s total sits at a very attainable number given the sheer volume of passing yards available in this system. I am trusting the snap volume and target share to push him past this sturdy marker.

Jackson saw his Anytime TD odds lengthen from an opening -159 to -125, while his First TD odds shifted from +525 to +600. Smith experienced similar adjustments, moving from -145 to -123 for an Anytime TD. On the Texas side, Manning’s Anytime TD odds opened at -120 and are now +135. Mosley saw his First TD odds shorten from +2000 to +1700.

Prop Bet #3: Jeremiah Smith Anytime Touchdown

The Buckeyes are an absolute juggernaut in scoring position. They have converted all 5 of their red-zone attempts into touchdowns, resulting in a flawless 100% red-zone efficiency rate.

They accrued a staggering 434 passing yards so far, and when they cross the 20-yard line, they finish drives. Smith is their premier offensive weapon and knows exactly how to light the lamp when the field shrinks. Because they refuse to stall for field goals, I love backing Smith to find paydirt here.
