Taylor holds the record for most VMAs in the show’s history with 31.
The song and video might be secondary to her overall fame since fans decide who wins the VMA, but with The Fate of Ophelia, she again shows her songwriting chops and layered storytelling abilities. Even though she’s a heavy favorite, the percentage is such that those who pick her on the prediction market can still garner a solid profit.

Ariana Grande has 13 VMAs of her own and has won Video of the Year in the past, having taken home the Moon Person in 2025 for Brighter Days Ahead.

Will she be able to overcome the overwhelming star power of Taylor and take the VMA? Probably not.
Confessions II – The Film – Madonna
Two words: It’s Madonna.
If it were anyone else, there would be no chance. But it’s Madonna, and she has again emerged after an extended lull to be introduced to a new generation of fans. Her skill at reinvention and innovation remains intact. While she is 68 and her contemporaries at the VMAs are half her age or younger, she maintains the Grande Dame status to which others aspire.
With Confessions II – The Film, she crafted an extended short story befitting the 1980s when a star of her magnitude could get away with a video that went beyond the normal duration of four or so minutes and compel MTV to play it without complaint. Back then, it was her, Michael Jackson, and Prince. She’s still able to dance, hold the audience’s attention, and attract contributors like Sabrina Carpenter.
Still, the name Madonna is the only thing that is keeping this video in the mid-single digits instead of the low single digits, with the other nominees not named Taylor and Ariana.
It’s almost assured that Taylor is going to win. Again.
