Seattle visits Edmonton tonight after opening its season with a 6-1 win over Calgary. The Oilers return home following two high-scoring games against Vancouver.
The Kraken impressed in their opener, but Edmonton brings the stronger scoring and power-play numbers from 2025-26. That contrast makes this an interesting early test for both teams.
Here is my Kraken vs Oilers prediction, a look at the current NHL Odds and the matchup numbers behind my best bet.
Kraken vs Oilers Prediction
- Pick: Edmonton to win (65¢, equivalent to -186, at Kalshi)
I’m taking Edmonton to win at home, but the price leaves limited room for error. The Oilers have opened the 2026-27 season 1-0-1 after a two-game series against Vancouver, while Seattle is 1-0-0 after beating Calgary. Those records provide only a small sample, so I’m putting more weight on last season’s team profiles and the matchup’s home-ice context than on the opening results alone.
Edmonton won the teams’ last three meetings by scores of 3-0, 9-4 and 4-0. Seattle did beat the Oilers 3-2 in October 2025, so that run does not represent a full-season sweep. Still, the more recent results reinforce Edmonton’s stronger offensive profile.
Edmonton averaged 3.44 goals per game last season, compared with 2.73 for Seattle. The Oilers also converted 30.6% of their power plays, while the Kraken finished at 19.5%. That difference is meaningful if Edmonton can draw penalties, although special-teams percentages can fluctuate and should not be treated as a guarantee for one game.
My fair-price view is close to the listed 65-cent Edmonton contract. I would be less interested in laying additional juice if the number moves significantly higher, particularly because Seattle has already shown it can win this matchup. At the current price, however, home ice and Edmonton’s offensive ceiling make the Oilers the preferred side.
Kraken vs Oilers Odds
Kalshi buy prices as of Oct. 2.
For readers comparing prediction market apps, the primary wager is Edmonton’s moneyline at 65 cents, equivalent to -186 in American odds. A 65-cent winning contract returns $1 before applicable fees, producing a 35-cent gross profit. Any final return should therefore be considered after platform fees rather than as a guaranteed net payout.
I’m not making the puck line or total my main play. Seattle scored six goals in its opening game, while Edmonton’s first two games produced a 7.00-goal scoring average for and a 6.50-goal average against. Those figures point toward an aggressive scoring environment, but they cover only one game for Seattle and two for Edmonton. The over may have appeal at 6.5, yet the sample is too small for me to make it a stronger recommendation than the side.
Kraken vs Oilers Special Teams Comparison
The table shows why I favor Edmonton despite Seattle’s clean opening-game defensive result. Seattle allowed one goal in its first game, but one game cannot establish a lasting defensive trend. Edmonton’s 2025-26 shot profile was more stable as the Oilers averaged 29.7 shots per game and allowed 26.7, while Seattle averaged 25.6 shots and gave up 29.5.
The special-teams comparison is even more important. Edmonton’s 30.6% power play was elite, and its 77.8% penalty kill was also better than Seattle’s 72.2%. Seattle’s power play was respectable at 19.5%, but the combined numbers still favor Edmonton whenever the game creates extra-skater situations.
There are reasons not to overstate the edge. Edmonton has allowed 6.50 goals per game in its first two games, and Seattle’s 6.00 goals per game came from just one contest. I’m not assuming those rates will correct immediately, but regression will likely happen. I’m treating them as early indicators that make the total difficult to price confidently.
