Georgia at Alabama headlines the opening Week 6 college football odds, and it is the matchup I have been waiting on all month. Both teams are 5-0, and they meet at Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday night at 7:30 pm ET on ABC.
The Red River Rivalry fills the afternoon window. Texas and Oklahoma meet at the Cotton Bowl at 3:30 pm ET, and USC at Penn State closes the night at 7:30 on NBC.
Below is the full early board, one row per game. Use it as your starting point and then measure it against the live college football odds as the rest of the week fills in.
Week 6 College Football Odds
Early Week 6 odds from DraftKings as of Oct. 4. Away team listed first except the neutral-site Red River Rivalry. Line shopping gets easier with a few of the best college football betting apps on your phone.
These are current early quotes rather than proven first offers, and plenty more games will get priced over the next day or two. What is up already covers most of the weekend’s best matchups.
The totals tell their own story. Texas and Oklahoma sit at 41.5, seven points below anything else on the board, while UCLA at Oregon tops it at 60.5.
Georgia vs Alabama Odds
- Spread: Georgia -2.5 (-105) / Alabama +2.5 (-115)
- Total: 56.5 (Over -110 / Under -110)
- Moneyline: Georgia -125 / Alabama +105
The Georgia vs Alabama odds have the Bulldogs favored by 2.5 on the road. That half point matters too, because Georgia backers need a win by three or more to cover.
Georgia got here with a 38-14 win over Vanderbilt in Athens. Gunner Stockton was sharp at 25 of 32 for 295 yards and three touchdowns, and the Bulldogs answered an early Vandy score with 31 unanswered points.
Alabama went into Starkville and hung 56 on Mississippi State in a 56-23 win. Keelon Russell threw for 285 yards and three scores on 16-of-22 passing, then added a 17-yard touchdown run of his own.
The moneyline is worth a quick look if you are newer to this. Alabama at +105 means a $100 bet returns $105 in profit if the Tide simply win, no points involved. Georgia at -125 means risking $125 to win that same $100.
Red River Rivalry Odds: Texas vs Oklahoma
The Texas vs Oklahoma spread has the Longhorns laying 9.5 at the Cotton Bowl with a 41.5 total, and that total is the number I keep coming back to. It implies roughly 25 or 26 for the Longhorns and 16 for Oklahoma, which is a grinder by Red River standards.
Texas is coming off a bye week, so the Longhorns should be as fresh as anyone on this slate. Oklahoma is +300 on the moneyline and gets 9.5 with the points, meaning a single-score loss still covers for Sooners backers.
USC vs Penn State Odds
The USC vs Penn State odds make the Trojans a 2.5-point road favorite in Happy Valley with a 57.5 total, in one of the higher-scoring matchups projected on the early board. The Trojans are -142 on the moneyline and Penn State comes back at +120.
That price says plenty about where these programs are right now. Penn State was beaten 34-13 by Northwestern in the opener at New Ryan Field, a game in which the Wildcats ran for 413 yards. USC moved to 5-1 with a 25-21 win over Washington.
Other Notable Week 6 Betting Lines
Florida is the biggest Saturday favorite on the board at -14 over South Carolina, with the highest SEC total at 58.5. Missouri is only laying three at home to Texas A&M, another matchup priced around a field goal.
Oregon gives 12.5 to UCLA in the 60.5-point game, Indiana is an 8.5-point road favorite at Nebraska, and LSU lays 9.5 at Kentucky. Friday night gets going with BYU favored by 14.5 over Iowa State.
The week actually starts Tuesday with Troy favored by 9.5 over Southern Miss, followed by Jacksonville State giving three at Kennesaw State on Wednesday. Those weeknight numbers can move fast, so keep an eye on the college football betting splits as money comes in.
